Me old kneecaps don't allow much of it. Mostly walking. Sometimes briskly.

now owned by Optus as of early 2021.

Cool, but more of a forum-worthy post though?

  • Cool beans and about time.

That’s great. How do you change normal sim to esim if you are an existing customer?

    • Let us know if you find out.

      • Yes I will. I am wondering if we can choose replace sim (I’ll try tomorrow as it only works from 9-5).
That’ll be so cool as you can get an unlimited sms/calls for $60 a year and they you could have either a Kogan or Catch physical for big data (either the $15 every 90 days or even cheaper)

Havent been using my iphone xs max because both my numbers are with amaysim. Now i can.

Now waiting on apple watch compatibility

          • @easternculture: I’m very interested to know how this affects Apple Watch compatibility too. If I understand correctly, the MNOs charge $5/month + the cost of a postpaid plan for a cellular watch service. Will this make it easier/cheaper to use your primary number with your Apple Watch?

        • How do you get $60/year for unlimited calls/texts? I can’t see any plan like that on their website…

          • @AL0126: It’s for existing customer. Once you have an amaysim number you are allowed to switch.

            • @fozzie: Oh I see, thanks for confirming :)

        • +2

You don’t have the option to replace physical to esim for existing customer in your account yet but I was able to do it via customer support chat.

  • amaysim, if you listen to radio ads you would think they are the bees knees

esim is good but only Wifi calling can fix their crap coverage.

    • +1

Try Gomo. Also owned by Optus but has had eSIM, VoLTE and Wifi calling for some time now. No issues so far.

      • +1

Yes I knew that but Amaysim offers unlimited international calling to some specific countries I need to call to.

        • Good point. Gomo has unlimited calling to some countries but only about half as many as Amaysim.

    • Do they not have Wi-Fi calling? I have the setting on my iPhone (turned on) with Amaysim

      • +2

No, if they do I will the first to know as I am expecting/waiting for this feature to be available.

        • Explains why my calls drop sometimes even with great Wi-Fi

  • When are they going to offer VoLTE though?

  • Wow Finally… Happy to move from telstra to amaysim for me watch esim standalone service

Hope it's as easy as how woolworths does, Like you get the barcode rather than how telstra does via their app

    • I didn’t think these phone plans could be used on watches (I thought they always need to be attached to a phone service?)

      • +1

Ur right for Samsung and Apple watches, which needs you to have postpaid plans.
So I got the ticwatch which has lte option. So I activated prepaid standalone esim of telstra ($30 for 6 months)
Now with amasim this be much more cheaper and more data for watch so I can stream podcasts from gym

        • Wow that’s cool! I have a normal Apple Watch and I just don’t move to lte because of extra cost.

  • Deal?

  • Boost what r u waiting for

    • Telstra

  • What’s the advantage of this?

    • Most flagships phones have esim, so this is just for data and primary no for incoming which you can get with cheapest plan

    • Using in dual phones/iPads, so you can have one esim and just use physical sim for extra data. Or even just a second sim to get extra offers.

So since s22 isn't on the list, would it still work as it an esim anyway. I don't know why it's not on the list

  • I only have the base s20 (non 5g) :(

  • +1

    no support for S22 ?

    • +1

Looks like they updated their list from the OP. Pixel 6/6 Pro isn't listed above, but is listed on their website.

      • How about support for Google Pixel 6? It's on the list though. About to order one ;)

        • +1

It should be as it's on their list, they also have this catch all at the end

If you can't find your device on this list, try checking with the manufacturer.

Also, handsets purchased in China may not be eSIM compatible.

  • Confirmed on live chat this afternoon that they can migrate existing customers to eSIM. No automated process though, you have to contact them to do it.

  • +1

If you are an existing customer, dont switch from Physical SIM to eSIM yet. I just submit the request and now I am stuck with a disabled physical SIM and unable to activate the eSIM. It said it cannot send me the eSIM until receive payment from me. I contact support and they cannot see any problem with my service and now escalate without the service !! I think they rollout the service without much testing.

  • I'd forgotten that recent(ish) iPhones could have the dual SIMs. Means you can do a personal number, and a burner (or business number) on the same phone, without carrying around two handsets. So I ported a number across to Amaysim, and did it as an eSim. Works great.

Just don't delete the eSIM, as you'll need customer service (during office hours ONLY) to re-generate it for you… Trust me, just had to do it, for um, a friend!

Once live on an iPhone, you get the choice of which number to use, and two signal bars at the top of the screen… Sweeet. Thanks OP!

  • Has anyone tried to switch from physical sim to esim? What the process is like, will they send you a QR code to scan or you have to use their mobile app?

    • Chat or call

    • +1

I contacted them via the chat. They ask what device you have to make sure it’s compatible and then they activate it for you. In your app you then need to download it and it’s done. I think it took about an hour for it to pop up on my app.

  • Thanks for telling me..i wouldn’t have known..Telstra refused to give me an e sim

  • Cheers EC

    Swapped to eSim today

    ( after 1 hiccup)
