Coffee Machine Cleaning Tablets

Hi all,

I have a Sunbeam Barista Max machine and currently need to do a cleaning cycle. Through abit of research I'm looking at purchasing a third party cleaner such as the Cafetto S15 tablets as opposed to the official Sunbeam tablets which cost far more for far less. From your own general experiences, which one would you recommend I purchase and what do you use yourselves?

Thank you.

I use a spoon of citric acid

  • Mckenzie's Citric Acid 75g $2.30 from Woolies.

A lot cheaper than buying brand name cleaners and just as good.

    • Is this for the cleaning cycle that involves putting the citric acid in the water tank, and letting it pump through etc? Will have to try this out. Have used vinegar in the past, but I think the citric acid will be better.

There's a difference between cleaning the group head and doing a de-scale

Citric acid is suitable for a descale cycle (though I just use descale packets from other brands like cafetto )
For cleaning the group head any of the alternate brands cleaning tablets or powders will work fine

depends what 'cleaning cycle' you're referring to

  • Would recommend not buying the tablets but buying the Cafetto Espresso Clean powder. It's the same product in granular form and at $20 for 1 kg MUCH better value.

  • What would you recommend to clean the Latissima Touch machine? I think the Delonghi cleaner which is also like a power is just like citric acid?
