Jetstar Ticket Cancellation and Get The Credit Voucher or Refund if Not Flying

My Mates,

I have a domestic flight tomorrow with my family to Gold Coast and looks like there will be rain all over the weekend so not sure if I should travel at all.

Now if I don't is there any chance that Jetstar will cancel my tickets and get me a refund.

I'm aware that they have cancellation policy against the border closure only.

Any relevant suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Refundable or non-refundable tickets? Most likely you won't get your money back if you choose not to fly

  • That's all I wanted to know, thanks guys 😅

Tell them u tested positive to covid

    • Won't they ask for a proof?

I’m sure there are pictures of positive rat tests available online

You'll have to report it to the gov, as they don't take RAT pictures.

@JimmyF: AFAIK gov takes pic of rat test as proof anyway. Didn’t downvote you

            • @[Deactivated]: Yes the gov accepts them…. and then it becomes 'official' and on 'record'….. So the airline will accept it.

I managed to cancel my perth tix only due to them changing flight times by more than 3 hours, I had zero luck with compasion cancellation (wedding cancelled). I have also heard
from a agent friend and take this with a grain of salt if you test positive they will voucher you. Yep we had 20 mins of Sunshine here on the goldy yesterday I was so happy to see a bit of blue sky but went back to ###p!!!

  • What fare type is your ticket?
Check this link for respective rules around refunds/cancellations.

Under a non-refundable fare type, you're out of luck especially with your weak reason of a rainy weather. You get flight credits under a more flexible fare type.
By the way I'm going to GC this weekend. It sucks it's going to be raining but cancelling never came to my mind.

    • Yeah, I guess I'll travel anyway and hope that the theme parks are running as usual.

    • Having said all that, can't hurt to ask.

I remember wanting to change a non-flexible ticket (person who booked for me picked wrong date or time) and they wanted me to pay ~$140 to change an ~$90 ticket. On the phone started off with too bad, then offered a voucher incentive (i.e. pay the full change fee, get the change plus a voucher), then offered a cheaper fee to change (around half the cost, from memory).

And I got this from just being kind but firm: asked for cheaper change fee; declined voucher as don't travel that much; etc. Remember, the people on the phone are just doing their jobs/what they're told.

zero chance for a 'change of mind' unless you paid extra for the fully refundable tickets.
