How Is Everyone Getting Their Pool Salt?

Pool owners… as you all know it’s been super difficult to get pool salt. We usually buy ours from a local pool shop but they say they are only getting small amounts which they are using for their pool maintenance business. They have recommended just putting more chlorine in more often. I’ve spoken to Bunnings and they say they are getting it in but it sells out as soon as it arrives, they don’t know when it will come in and won’t put you on a waiting list. I use the stock checker for all the obvious places.

Does anyone have a secret salt source or strategy that they are willing to share?

Bonus for Gold Coast or nearby. Thanks!

The amount of rain we’ve been getting it all gets diluted out anyway which is the most frustrating. I believe the go to is top it up with liquid chlorine (for the love of god, wear protective equipment- I learnt that the hard way) , and turn off/ run chlorinator less

    • Thanks, yep we’ve been hitting it with chlorine, perhaps not enough though.

      • If you have doubts yeah it’s prob not enough haha. As long As it’s not swamp green you should be fine….

Just luck of the draw, all pool shops seem to be getting it in sporadically and it sells out quickly. I managed to get 2 bags on Friday because I happened to be driving past my local store and saw a pallet inside their opened roller door.
If you can't get any switch off your chlorinator and add chlorine.

    • Thanks. That’s what we’ve been doing but it’s starting to get a bit green round the edges after all this rain.

Hahaha - nice. I'm pretty sure they’ll be putting in it their own pools though.

When Joshy finally admits defeat he'll have enough to fill every pool.

    • We had one of those here in the morning (for trolling), now IPB.

Should be plenty to collect from PB.

I just get it at Bunnings - most of the time there is some left.

  • Bring a bucket of seawater home every day.

I like your thinking, but the seawater around here isn’t looking the best of late. Not sure if I’m keen for storm water in my pool.

  • Alternatively get a Naked or Enviroswim system installed, no chlorine and only need half a bag of salt per year 👍

    • Thanks, will look into this

My sister got 10 bags from a place at Crestmead, Qld 2 weeks ago at $16 per bag.
Old mate getting it shipped over by courier from here in WA
Google pool salt Crestmead and see how you go.

    • 10 bags? Is she selling it on the black market?

      • We would have gone through nearly this much in the time that the salt shortage has been happening.

    • Thanks, will check it out.

  • Woolworths sells pool salt. $10 for 10kg, so 2x more expensive than Bunnings, but a one-time option if you can’t find any at all.

    • Out of stock near me unfortunately.
