Best 'Budget' TV under $1500?

Hi all,

My girlfriend and I have recently moved to a place and have decided to upgrade TV's. Now I haven't really kept up with emerging TV technologies for a few years now but I've found that the general consensus is that OLED is still pricey and manufacturers are still using confusing names to trick consumers into thinking they're buying OLED (Nanocell, QLED, etc)

So after acknowledging the hard truth that we couldn't afford an OLED I started comparing the various high end TVs and we think we landed on the LG Nano75 in the 65" size. Now we did have the option to buy this at Costco for $1.2k but moving houses dampens short-term liquidity and we'd much rather have a method of paying it off over time (something I don't think Costco does?).

We've instead been quoted $1350 at Harvey Norman as they won't price match Costco due to them not price matching wholesalers. As this brings us closer to $1.5k, I wanted to put to the brain trust: Is there a better TV at this price point? And have I made the right choice?

TIA

I think this is same model @ $1,290 - so a little bit more off…

I will also add… if you can't pay for it upfront 'due to liquidity' then wait to upgrade your tv.

    • That would be the same one mate cheers.

And yes thanks for the advise and that is something I'd normally do however it looks like the Tv is being cleared out for the newer 2022 model that comes with a heavier price tag for not a lot of additional advantages

bought 50" Hisense A7G for cheapo bedroom TV, been pretty happy with it. Can get the 65" for around the $1k mark?

    • If you put a video on a USB stick how well does your Hisense handle that?

Is it good with various formats ?

Have not tried that sorry. But we use Netflix, Prime, Plex, Youtube, all built in apps on the TV and they work well.

        • Righto. Thanks for the answer.

Is your "short-term liquidity" going to be fixed in a month?

You're basically paying $150 to have a TV slightly sooner.

    • I probably should have mentioned the TV is being cleared out for the newer 2022 model hence the impatient purchase
