Good F-mount prime lens for those still shooting Nikon DX DSLR cameras (e.g. D3500, D5600).

  • Classic piece of kit, for crop sensor though

Absolutely beautiful lens, paid $299 for it like 4 years ago. Highly recommend!

  • Great price for probably the best everyday DX lens, use this as the main and keep a zoom in the bag

Hands down the best value lens for Nikon crop cameras.
Packs a punch and useful all round

  • I prefer the 50mm but good lens.

  • Meanwhile Z mount prices have all gone up

  • I listed some of the other lenses on sale in a comment under the other bargain node - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/701977

  • Is this lens good for wide angle?

    • Simply put - and it is 'simply' - this is the closest equivalent of a 50mm lens on a full frame camera, and is neither wide angle nor zoom, being the closest approximation of what the naked eye can see when you shoot a frame.

I'm soooo tempted, but I've got the 1.8 50D so can't justify it.

  • And to think I bought the Sigma 30mm 1.4
    https://sigmaphoto.com.au/products/4301955/sigma-30mm-f-1-4-...
    While I don't think I paid the $679 RRP, I'm pretty sure I paid more than $178
Plus with the Sigma lens, I had to buy a dock for it so I could update the firmware on it so it would not be rejected by my updated Nikon body.

    Good deal.

Price is back up to $293.25 on Amazon so I ended up getting the 50mm for $208 from Havey Norman.

    • Thanks, I've marked the deal as expired now
