How to Regain The eBay Free Selling Fees Offer?

eBay used to send me $0 or $1 final value fees offers but I haven’t received these offers for very long time. Guess because I haven’t listed anything for a few years. Anyone knows how to trigger off those free selling offers again? As the fees are ridiculous (13.4%)

No trigger. They just don't issue them anymore.

  • Haven't got them since, I think, last November.

  • It's 13.4% + 30c, so depending on the value of the item, could get >15%. Ridiculous but it is easier to sell there than on FB Marketplace and Gumtree so you win some you lose some.

Ps the 30c is not refundable if order is canceled.

Fb Marketplace is the worst for electronics - I have had interactions with 50+ people (not kidding) for one item that hasn't sold yet. Typical conversation goes like this:

      1) Is it still available
      Yes, it's available
      2) Where's pickup from? (or the less wordy version 'location?')
Pickup is from xxx (Despite having the location clearly stated in the ad)
      3) That's way too far (I live very centrally)

Even if I do get beyond this stage and have given my address and agreed on a time, they then either don't show up or suddenly cancel/reschedule last minute.

I'm going back to eBay for these type of transactions and happily pay the 15% commission.

      • For sure and 1) is way too common. Like literally you answer and they stop responding…

      • Can you take <less than half listed price> can pickup tonight with cash?

      • I appreciate your honesty.
Some humans reckon it's heaps better than ebay because no fees, yet neglect to mention the type of people you have to deal with to make a single sale.

        • I’d guess it depends on your location. Some areas/groups would be better than others

  • Haven’t had any decent deals since the “list to eBay for free” promo through gumtree disappeared. I list on both Gumtree and eBay and just bump the price to help offset some of the fees. Even so it usually sells through eBay, Gumtree is terrible with so many time wasters and lowballers but occasionally it works so I sell on both

  • UK eBay still do them. Not sure why AU doesn't.

  • Could be the promo teams are flat out flogging eBay Plus, ads are everywhere…

    • Soon to be renamed eBay Plus Rewards Max.
