  • This or a top end Reid?

  • Commuter bikes ride in an upright position. The handlebars on this are too low for a commuter bike

    • Any bike is a commuter bike if you use it to commute

  • My experience with a Kmart bike from a couple of years ago:

    • easy to put together but just takes a while
    • the brakes required constant adjustment, was very frustrating
    • about 9 months later a few spokes broke and the rear hub came apart with the ballbearings all spilling out

Never again! Kids bikes probably okay but for an adult no. Maybe they have since changed supplier / manufacturer, not sure.

    • Single-wall rim, so not hard to break spoke, e.g. on a pot-hole or kerb.
Riding it with multiple broke spokes is probably a good way to break the hub too. Same as a car - don't keep driving when the engine is overheated etc.

  • Every now and then I can see these cheap bikes waiting for council to clean up on the kerbside. I have given up on cheap bikes - they just rusted easily. Do the environment a good deed and consider one bike that can serve you much longer.

  • If you're in Adelaide they're all out. Site says there were a few in stock, but called and told it was a miscount and there's none left
