ReAmped Energy General Discussion: No Longer Taking New Customers, Usage Charges Increasing

Just saw this: https://www.facebook.com/ReAmpedEnergy/photos/a.204384449899…

"Dear Australia, we love you, but given major volatility in the energy market, we have made the tough decision to stop taking as many new customers as possible, at this time. This choice enables us to look after our existing ReAmped customers and we’ll be back in the market for new customers when the time is right.

Thanks for your continued support, ReAmped Energy x"

Interestingly, my 'handshake' rates are still the same low rate that most people used to get since switching back.. I am not moving until I see the rates actually go up.

          • @feihong: Update: The rates are still unchanged as of today

            Anytime: $0.1799/kWh
            Feed-in Tariff: $0.0710/kWh
            Daily Supply Charge: $0.4912/day

            • @feihong: Were you able to get these rates? I tried and they said they are out of date and unavailable.

              Are you in Victoria?

              • @chillipaste: Yeah I am. I have effectively never left Reamped and they did not jack up their prices from 1 Aug

                • @feihong: Interesting. I am in VIC and they jacked it up. I'm still with them on the default offer, they said the handshake rates are no longer available at the rates you described, even though the website /pdf still shows this

                  • @chillipaste:

Interesting. I am in VIC and they jacked it up. I'm still with them on the default offer

Also, in VIC. Same situation as you for my main property.

                    @feihong Which grid / distributor?

                    • @DoctorCalculon: I am with United Energy

                      • @feihong: That is interesting as my property is on the same grid.

The following are the rates that are advertised on their site when you select a postcode within the UE grid coverage area:
                        https://www.reampedenergy.com.au/docs/REA390065MR.pdf

As you can see, the rates do not match the ones you mention above.

Nonetheless, those rates are still heaps better than being stuck on the VDO.
So, I tried joining again, and I just get a generic error message. Tried with a random (but valid) address on the UE grid - same issue.

                  • @chillipaste: New sign ups are actually disabled, at least for the addresses I have tried within Melbourne Metro locations.

  • Has anyone got the woolies 100 gift voucher from joining via Finder?

Not me - FWIW the T&C's for the offer were:

T’s&C’s apply. This offer is only available until the end of June 2022. Once you have passed the cancellation period with your new provider, you will be issued a gift card approximately 90 days after switching. Finder does not compare all providers in the market.

I can't imagine they'd be wanting to give away any earlier than they promised - so most folks signed up in JUN, so SEP would be when you'd expect they'd roll out.

But maybe some folks are early birds?

FWIW if anyone was waiting on their $100 GC from the Finder promo - I chased them up and was advised this:

    Thank you for your email.

eGift cards will be sent out within this week.

Hope I have answered all your queries. If you still have any questions please feel free to contact us here.

    Kind Regards,

    • Switched in end of July.
Contacted Finder and was advised to wait 90 days.

Looks like it will be a very long wait

  • Just received my 2 x $50 WW GC from FINDER - came via email - be aware they are 3 month expiry! Which should not be an issue for most of us but is odd.

I looked into how they could do this as regular WW GC have no expiry and it's a 3 yr minimum by law. Apparently this clause allows them to do this:

part of a temporary marketing promotion (e.g. customers buy a certain product from Business A, which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B).

So keep an eye out or follow up IF you're due some from the FINDER promo.

Just wanted to checkin with the folks who stuck it out with Reamped —- how much did your rates go up ?

Just wanted to update this thread and hand in my OzBargain license.

Mother-in-law was still on reamped. As she was a pensioner, her rates weren't that bad [which is why it went unnoticed].

We were paying roughly $40 per month in 2022, by the end, we were paying about $80 per month.

Reamped actually announced last week that they're moving all remaining customers to OVO (which is why we started looking for alternatives).

OVO ended up being much cheaper too.
