Power Bank Recommendations

Hi!

Looking for a good deal on a quality power bank.

The plan is to use it to keep my ipad and phone charged on long cross country flights in light aircraft, so I want a good brand that's not going to overheat or explode, safety is important here.

Needs to have fast charging (at least 15-20W output). Don't care about wireless charging. Not sure about capacity, but preferably enough for 10 hours or so of real world charging. One with a number for the charge indicator would be better than the ones that just use lights.

Thanks in advance!

Biggest capacity Anker powerbank for your budget.

This will do well for iPhone & iPad: https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-PowerCore-13000-Portable-Cha…

They're rock solid, give you the stated capacity and will last for years.

  • anker, romoss, belkin are pretty good. other off brand stuff from my experience aren't really what they claim there mah rating is. you can always tell by the weight of the power bank. also other off brand ones don't last as long. I went to being able to charge 2.5 times, to barely 1 full charge after a few months.

i own anker, romoss, and belkin, and they are still going strong. i don't know if they are cutting corners now or not, but i had mine for over a year now and use it a lot.

I've been using (and really loving) my Romoss powerbank. I have the 20000mAH variant with the LED readout.

Had Xiaomi powerbanks previously and they worked great too.

    • No issues with it? Romoss seem to have great specs for the price but there are arts lot of negative amazon reviews saying it dies within a few months or doesn't give anywhere near the rated capacity. My inner ozbargainer loves the price but I feel like I should probably fork out more for a better/safer unit.

      • I have had mine since mid 2020. I don't use it heavily outside of weekend travels but so far it's still working fine.

I have Romoss, Xiaomi, ZMI (who usually makes Xiaomi power bank too), Kogan and Blitzwolf.

Romoss by far the most budget feel, and mine has the USB-C port died after about 12 months usage, and the material feels cheap. Not too bad, but not too good consider even the Kogan ones still working fine. It's the 20k mAh one with LED read out and 18W PD.

Kogan 10k one with USB C 18W PD is almost identical to the Blitzwolf. They may share the same OEM/ODM. Feels solid for the price.

Xiaomi I have the both the micro USB one and the Pro with 45W PD. Generally good build.

ZMI QB823 I got from Kogan for $19.99 was a steal as it's usually >$80. 65W PD, USB Hub and material feels the most premium out of all the ones I have.

    • Good to know. I ended up getting the 23800mAh Charmast. Maybe not the same safety/quality as an Anker unit, but better capacity and faster charging. No issues yet.

    • Hey sorry for pinging an old comment, but how's the powerbank going? Do you still have it? Any problems?

Still going strong with no major issues. I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't want to charge past 99%, but that hasn't really caused me any drama.
