Buying Unbranded Milwaukee Chargers from eBay

Any comments about buy unbranded power tools chargers from eBay?

Will they do the job or are they rubbish?

I looked at FB market place and it appears that the people seem to be buying of eBay and selling on FB or Gumtree

Just buy a genuine one, they are cheap on market place etc. I have an m12 one spare that I can't even sell for $50, brand new.

    • Some are asking $100 in FB Market plans for the M18 rapid charge but they are new or almost new.

Offer less? I'd much rather genuine than some dodgy thing.

  • Flip a coin really..

  • what could wrong?

With the amount of money the batteries are worth I wouldn't risk shortening their life by using a knock-off charger…

On YouTube watch the teardown video of any genuine power tool charger vs the knockoff equivalent and you'll be able to make your decision quite easily based on the component count on the PCB alone.

You leave a bunch of Li-ion cells(the 18v battery) which itself could explode and catch fire if not handled properly, charging unattended for few hours most likely at your home or workplace so which charger would you trust?

If you at too lazy then expect a house fire.

  • I agree with all the comments about purchasing non-genuine chargers. I never buy chargers from eBay for phones or laptops.

Not just phones or laptops the same applies to any AC mains adapter used to rechargeable batteries.
If you don't want to pay RRP then you can buy these brand new and significantly cheaper as you can find tradies offloading these from kits on FB and Gumtree all the time (Yes I understand the warranty issues, but I've bought multiple chargers and batteries and haven't had any problems)

  • Yeah I wouldn’t risk it, or if you do at least have it somewhat attended (not leaving in charge then going away for 1 week holiday)
