USB Dust Caps Wanted - for sticks/Cruzer Blade

HI. I intend travelling soon and I am looking for caps for some of these : http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/70087

I have looked on ebay and this : http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=usb+dust+cap&_sacat=0… is all I found. They all look like the same thing, whether it says they are for a laptop or phone.

Can anyone tell me if these would fit the USB stick or have a link to something that will, either to plug it or cap it?

Thanks. M

Put them in a ziplock bag??? They will be fine without one.

    • I've never had a problem. My current one even has a bit of paper (that has gone through the wash) IN it. Cant get it out. Works fine.

Are you planning on using them in a dust storm? What about just keeping them in your pocket.

Or a cup, a tissue, a drink bottle filled with engine oil.

      Seems superfluous.

  • Thanks guys, ziplock are good.

I'm looking for USB dust caps or plugs if anyone knows of anything.

  • How dirty do your usbs get? I work in the mining environment and i've never had a usb fail

  • I work in the rainforest, the swamp, the field, in the rain and wind, night and day. I work on the ground when it's wet and muddy or dry and dusty. In the bush for long periods of time, and I drive and walk in it.

I found what I need now so no more help needed, thank you. If anybody wants some links let me know.

    • I don't want any but im curious to see what you found

I am about to buy a few from HK for around 70c a piece + $2 post, the best of only five suppliers I found so far. Will post the details once I have checked them out and they are ok.

This is what one looks like - http://hk.image.auctions.yimg.com/ac/b8/9f/1129061965-ac-998… The A male type - made of silicon and designed to fit tight enough, also has a nub on side to thread a lanyard through so it won't be lost. They also have A female types for plugging unused USB ports, also with a knob to grip for easy retraction, for around 60c each. Both in black or clear silicon.

I'm just waiting on the invoice for 10 of each, it took so long to find them I want some spare and makes the postage seem ok, and I'll see the unit price.

May post it in deals since there are so few suppliers and I can't be the only one who sees the need for them. Apart from my 'work' environment, have you ever travelled in a campervan on a bulldust road - google it.

        • well thanks for the update :)

  • Dust caps arrived and they are a perfect fit. Cost about 50c each from HK and were combined and sent registered, about 6 work days for delivery. From ebay member http://myworld.ebay.com.au/ilavapple/?_trksid=p4340.l2559

Cheng has only some stuff on ebay and the rest you can see in the links below. I couldn't find an Oz supplier and the others, US and Taiwan, were not as cheap.
