Webjet Gift Card - Not Allowing Me to Check out

Hi Guys,

Sorry if this is not written out correctly, and not detailed enough as I am writing this quite frustrated.

Long story short, I purchased $1100 of WebJet vouchers through PayPal and Cashrewards and when going to check out, although the total balance is $0 its telling me that my payment was declined…

It is literally impossible to contact support without an actual booking and now im stuck with $1146 of webjet vouchers (and the whole booking through webjet with GCs was a mistake to begin with).

Would anyone have any guidance on what I should do?

    • I got them from PayPal and the balance of the cards appears correctly when I check out. Not second hand ones lol.

    Do something to bring the balance to $1+ so you're not just paying with gift cards?

    • Thanks, I actually tried to do this before I purchased the 2nd GC but it was still saying declined, that's why I thought Id get a 2nd GC that covers the whole cost. I'm assuming its the whole 72 hour thing.

    Ping them on the socials. Usually the way to get through to companies who don't want negative press.

    Is it more than 72hrs since you purchased them?

    Their website indicates e-gift cards take 72hrs to activate.

    • Yeah I did see this after I bought them,I guess that applies to all GC retailers as well?

    It seems 72 hours issue.
    I have previously bought and used several thousands of vouchers. Sometimes used partial payment and sometimes I have fully paid via vouchers. There has never been an issue with bookings. Either it's a new bug in webjet or its just 72 hours issue.

    So I contact support and they said both cards are OK and that it mut be the 72 hours thing (they're all completely 110% fkn clueless), they literally asked for my redemption code and I hesitated initially but ended up giving it to them as it was the official support channel (stupid I know, but I had to know wtf is going on).
    I also found this information on the PayPal website which is very misleading and worries me: 3.Gift Cards purchased at www.webjet.com.au will take 72 hours to activate, and will not be redeemable for 72 hours after purchase. Webjet Digital eGift Cards purchased via other channels are activated immediately.
    Clearly the above is untrue. Anyway if anyone sees this please dont do this to yourself.

  • Update: Managed to check out after 72 hours to the second. And they had to confirm manually after 48 hours, and it is now confirmed. Happy ending? Stuff you WebJet.
