Viomi Alpha S9 Robot Vacuum Replacement?

Hello

I had mine for 11 month and generally happy with it. Got it on special for $550. Now, it started to play up- sometimes the battery would go from 95% to 20% in an instant, it would return to the doc and after 5 mins charging would jump back to like 80% and continue working.

Since its under 12 months warranty, I have 2 options (confirmed):

  1. Get a refund and send the unit back
  2. Get partial refund that I can use to buy another battery

I was thinking to get a full refund, but these vacs are no longer sold by anyone =(
And there is nothing remotely close in price
What do you think?

  • Had a similar thing happen with mine, sent it back and was given a full refund, but had to pay for expensive shipping. i.e.Huge heavy original box sent from Perth.

I found the device itself excellent for the price, probably the best you can buy in that price range but am hesitant to get another as its very unlikely to last very long.

  • I guess it's with any of them. I like Roborock S7+ but at $1600 it more than 3x the price of Viomi, it's not the gamble I am prepared to play

How much did it cost you to ship it? I am in WA as well. Should have paid with PayPal =)

    • I did pay with paypal but was outside the time they refund shipping.

  • I just put in a return request for mine. Every now and then the robot can't locate itself when I start a vacuum and it deletes the map to write a new one. Very annoying setting up a new map every now and then. Did you guys ever have this problem? I've had it for 2 months now and like you guys am in Perth so not looking forward to that return cost.

    • if you paid with PayPal, you can try claiming the return back. I paid with Afterpay, so no chance for me.
Mine does reset the map now and then. In the 11 months that I had it, it probably has done it 5 times.
There is nothing really that can be bought for this price with the dock - docks themselves cost same or more than this unit. If I could get a new replacement, I would not think twice about it. But if I send it back and only get a refund, then it means I will have no vacuum at all, so will need to buy one with 2-3x the price. After having a self cleaning dock, there is no going back to manual ways =)
I think I will take my chances with just the partial refund for the new battery, when this one completely dies

    • Tell them you dont want to ship the original box back unless they pay for shipping, would be much cheaper to just put the machine itself in a padded bag or smaller box.

      • I don't even have the box. But dock itself is heavy

  • I see what you mean, I got mine on sale for $499 and no other robot vacuum with a dock comes close to that price. I wonder why it has been discontinued in Australia. I did buy through PayPal, thanks for the idea. Good luck with yours

  • Bought $550 deal through PCByte. Vac started dying at 30% battery power. Emptying station incorrect indicated full bag. I returned to PC Byte (after vids and receipt) and they paid shipping. Full refund.
