TerryWhite Chemmart Rewards Point Value

Does anybody know the dollar value of a reward point at TerryWhite? Other than saying you get 3 points per dollar and that you get 'real rewards' it doesn't say anything about what you actually get. I know that from time to time at the register they say that I can cash in my balance so I probably get about $15 a year back, about $5 a time (my guess would be that cashback happens when you have $5 worth of points to spend).

Assuming it's 500 points for $5 means each point is worth 0.33 cents, which would put it the ballpark of flybuys and woolworths rewards. But that's sheer guesswork because it seems the have not bothered to explain that anywhere.

    Yes, they have:

    Earn Rate means:

(a). In respect of a Standard Member, a rate of 3 Reward Points for every $1 (which equates to 0.03 Reward Points for every 1 cent) spent on Qualifying Purchases; and

(b). In respect of Member+, a rate of 12 Reward Points for every $1 (which equates to 0.12 Reward Points for every 1 cent) spent on Qualifying Purchases.

That is just the different earn rates between the different membership types. The real answer is a bit further down in the T&Cs:

Redemption Rate means the rate at which Reward Points can be applied in full or part payment of Qualifying Purchases, being a rate of 1 Rewards Point per 1 cent (which equates to $1 for every 100 Rewards Points accumulated) to be spent for future purchases.

So you get $1 off for every $33.33 you spend on qualifying purchases. Effectively a 3% discount.

      • Thanks. I'm not sure if that confirms my maths or not but 3% discount is more intuitive and IIRC woolworths would be more like 0.5% so as far as these things go it's much better than average.

The products cost 30% more, but you get points.

Not really. I get some stuff through amazon subscribe and save, and occasionally do a big order through one of the online pharmacies, but for a lot of stuff TerryWhite prices are the same if you shop generic or look out for specials. They are local and I'm in there once a month anyway so I keep an eye out. I'm happy to support a local business with fantastic customer service. They are much cheaper than the other nearby local chemist who probably does add about a 30% premium.

I was asking because I needed a part for my CPAP machine and yes, in that case I could have gotten it $20 cheaper online but the price I paid was still $10 below RRP and within my expected budget. And with postage as it is, the last time I did that it took 3 weeks to arrive, which is really an unhealthy time to wait. Anyway, I guess I'll get a couple of bucks back for that too, so it's really only $18
