My favourite almond milk as it's 7% almonds, no sugar and no nasty fillers or bad oils to artificially make it thicker. Normally $3.20ish at Coles/Woolies. On sale this week for $2 at Coles and Amazon have beaten their price. Subscribe and save gets it to $1.77 per carton, then you can just cancel the sub if you don't want it.

Cheap enough to give a crack, good price

  • I'm surprised there is no calcium in this milk?

    • -4

Yep, no calcium or vitamin E fortification. Definitely not suitable as a milk replacement.

Further, there is no evidence to suggest "fillers" are detrimental to health. I'm not going to even touch "bad oils", except to say that vegetable (seed) oils are not 'inflammatory' in a way that leads to poorer health outcomes (fight me with real science, bro).

Organic is great if you want to spend more for no added nutritional benefit.

If you like the flavour, drink up. Just make sure you're getting enough calcium elsewhere in your diet.

Sorry. This nutrition scientist is tired. So tired.

The 7% is a bit misleading, though as it's 7% "activated" almonds, which are almonds after they've been soaked in water.

Considering it has less fat and protein (but similar) than vitasoy's unsweetened almond milk, which has 3.8% almonds, I would put the pure harvest a touch under that.

Vitasoy has emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), vegetable gum (gellan). and it's not Organic.
      Better stick to Pureharvest.

  • I heard Dr Carl talking on the radio last week saying that Almond milk is a is a complete waste of money he was saying the health benefits are worse than Zero . he has a publication out about it that has caused some fuss ,I haven't read it and this is just what I listened to last week . fyi

It’s just an alternative to high calories/sugar cow milk. I have it with oats and peanut butter. I don’t expect to get benefits from it as it’s mostly water with a little bit of almond flavour. Good for ppl with T1 diabetes.

If you have no Health issues, then it’s best to stick to cow milk.

      • Yes. This. Fortified almond milk is good for people who need or want a lower-energy, low carb alternative to milk in things like cereal/oats, hot drinks, etc.

      • I was led to believe soy milk was the best cow milk alternative in terms of nutrition

Don't most people drink it as a lactose-free or vegan milk alternative? Along with other soy/oat/rice/coconut etc varieties? Didn't realise people were drinking it for supposed health benefits.

      • I think too many “Instagram influencers/nutters” promote almond/soy/rice..etc milk as healthy alternatives because somehow cow milk is considered bad these days.

Exactly my thoughts. I get pretty sick if I have any dairy. Almond milk gives me a replacement to use in my coffee etc. so that's why I personally use it.

Vitasoy Almond Milky is the best

    • Vitasoy has emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), vegetable gum (gellan). and it's not Organic.
