  • I don’t have it but iiNet was offering it with their NBN100 and potentially NBN50, at no extra cost.

    • you need to sign up for 24month contract.

  • Why not get a Telstra modem. Root it and chuck your own sim card. Get like a Coles 60gb plan for $90 (im sure theres better/cheaper out there).

  • Telstra or Optus have smart modems with built in 4g failover as a combined service.

Outside of their smart modems, you can go 3rd party but you'll need a 4g modem with ethernet, a SIM plan and then hope you have a high end router which can do load balancing or something along those lines. It's possible but not cheaper by any means.

    • +1

Vodafone have NBN with 4G backup too

  • In short, no you won't get any discounts like the Commbank discounts for providers with 4G backup included, as the cost of providing the hardware and the mobile network is more expensive.
Generally you will pay more for 4G backup depending on if its a business or residencial connection.
Some providers can do floating static IPs on business connections so that if the NBN goes down the business can still function on either 4G or 5G depending on what is available.
If you want a cheap 4G backup solution just buy a data only plan and place that sim card into a router that can handle Sim cards that way you can get cheap NBN and cheap mobile data.
if you want a provider to provide the hardware and the Sim card in the one package you will pay more.
Some business broadband providers will do discounts for longer contracts though such as 24 or 36 months and you can get multi services discounts for having multiple services with some providers as well.
But if this is for home use your options are limited.
