AGL Move out Fee

When I switched from Origin to AGL there was no fees charged whatsoever. Now I'm moving back to Origin and AGL said there would be a move out fee of $43.56 charged by the distributor. Is this normal? Don't think I received any info from AGL about these fees when I signed up.

It looks like the OzBargainers churn electricity quite a bit as well. Are you guys not worried about these fees?

EDIT: no fees, rep told me the wrong info

Is it a special meter read fee?

It depends on the contract you signed when you moved. Some contracts have entry and exit fees. Some are if you break a 12 or 24 month contract, but some are for the first and last reads. The first read when I moved in Sydney 3 years ago was $11 or $12.

Have a read of the contract conditions you agreed to when you moved to AGL.

That was close. Thanks for the update.

That fee is for a manual meter read and disconnection. Won't apply to you.

AGL are sending out e-mails about price increases from 1st July. At the bottom it says you're free to move to another provider and there's no fees.

    The choice is yours, always
If you want to switch plans or leave anytime, that’s OK – you’re not locked in and there’s no exit fees. To help compare other plans, you may be after more detailed usage information, so simply contact us to access your billing history.
