Lack of USB-C is a bit of deal breaker.

I bought this for easter camping, worked a treat. I seemed to get the hang of the different modes, will be interesting to see if I remember before the next camping trip.
The micro-USB didn't bother me too much. Charged it up & it didn't need a top-up for the 4 nights we camped (though had a cable in the car if needed).

  • Thanks. Been looking for a decent headlamp.

  • Any good for POV shots ?

    • What do you mean? For taking a photo with a headlamp as the light? If your camera/phone is in front of the light you'll see a shadow of it in your image.

    • This is a headlamp rather than a photography light. The main light has a low CRI value, so colours will be more muted than with a photography light.

The red light has 10 lumens. Anyone know if that's good enough to see in pure darkness when going on astrophotography trips? Like to adjust camera settings on the fly etc.

Really good question. In a good dark sky site, the ambient illumination might be in the 1-2 lumen range. Inner cities are more like 9+ lumens.

When you've been outside for 20min or more, your eyes will have adjusted to the lower ambient levels already, so they're even more sensitive to any light.

I've been using a ~5 lumen red light for night-time photography for years, and it's been perfect, even too bright in some cases. The good thing about too much light from a headlamp like this is that all you need to drop it is a few layers of opaque sticky tape, or white/red electrical tape.

So, I can't comment on the quality, build, or ease of use for this head lamp, but it'll certainly be bright enough!

  • Lowest on Amazon was actually $29.91 but was for a short time only maybe less than an hour where they put up the 20% discount but still had the reduce price of $37.39.
