Advice Needed for Car Tinting

Hi everyone, it's me again.

After deciding to go with the Mazda CX-8 Touring SP (which Motorscount found for me with a waiting time of 3 weeks, they are bloody awesome), time for the next step.

Looking to tint my car to the maximum legal limit, and may be with a ceramic layer to block out the heat. The dealer that I'm picking up my car from is quoting $575 for the normal tint which blocks 60% of the infrared. Mean while a quote i got from another company is $595, ceramic and blocks 87% of infrared. I requested quotes from a few companies and only got 1 reply.

Do you have any recommendation regarding which company and which option I should go for tinting at all? Location is Sydney, NSW

I feel quite bad for asking about so many things on here, but I don't have a lot of people to turn to for advice in Australia, so I asked anyway XD

Thank you for your time.

Prestige and Custom Car Salon at Castle Hill have done several cars for me. They're not cheap, especially for something the size of a CX8, but they can offer several options in regards to tint and don't take shortcuts.

Don't just compare prices - make sure you're comparing like-for-like. One may be cheaper but they might use the shittest tint film (that may or may not peel later) and a more expensive place might be using a much better quality film (that's more expensive to get).

    Hunters Hill Window tinting.
He's done 2 off my cars and I couldn't fault the work. Price is about mid-range.

    • tell us the price and car model dafuq

    • will look at them, thank you

  • 5% all round or nothing.

    • Nah, if you're going 5% just paint the windows black. Like Spike in Buffy

      • I can still see through my 5% tint though (only on the windows behind the driver :)

but only in daylight I bet.

          • @Brian McGee: It's fine where there's street lighting too, can see cars with headlights behind no problems.

    • i didn't know 5% was legal 0.0

I've had 2 cars tinted with Suntek CXP by Oztint in Five Dock. Oldest car is 11 years old and tint it still in perfect condition.

    • will have a look at them, thanks
