Replacement Receiver for Yamaha RX-V3900?

Arrrg, my trusty Yamaha RX-V3900 is playing up, actually it still works it's just that the remote has stopped working, only it's the IR unit in the box itself and not the remote as I've tried 2 separate ones. Did a FW update/reset to no avail so I'll take it into the shop on Monday. If they have trouble getting parts or it turns into an expensive exercise what would be an equivalent receiver these days?

We're running a 7.1 setup with 2 rears and two 'fill' speakers up the front above the main speakers a centre and a powered sub so would like to keep that configuration if possible.

Here's the specs

Would like to keep it under $2K. The replacement doesn't have to be a Yamaha but should do decent sound quality and have at least 4 HDMI ports I guess.

It also has a switched power outlet on the back which turns on the exhaust fan when the unit powers up.

Thanks

Happy with mine so far 🙂 front fill speakers are atmos?

  • Thanks guys,

My other option is to get an IR extender kit but most of the ones I'm seeing use an IR emitter that sits over the unit's original IR sensor (which doesn't work) so I need to find one that will plug into the 3.5mm 'remote in' plug in the back of the unit. Apparently it needs to be powered as the Yamaha doesn't power the 'remote in' port.
