Geez I bought the rubber band version of this for $200 and thought it was a good deal. An insta-buy for the bracelet model at the same price (albeit I wear mine on a green perlon anyway).

    • Link?

      • +1

To the strap? It was just a cheapy off Aliexpress. Search for "green perlon 20mm" and choose the cheapest one including shipping, that's what I did!

  • Suggestion for a silicone band version of this?

    • +1

Not sure why you would want to when this is cheaper but here you go.

      • +1

coz my wrists are thin af and by the time you remove enough links, the watch as a whole doesn't look as nice anymore :/

        • +8

You're better off paying for the one with a bracelet, then getting a 20 dollar strap separately. Then you've got the watch+strap for cheaper, plus you have a bracelet as well. Also, to be fair to you, if your wrist is so small you can't remove enough links to make it fit, then you need to wear a smaller watch. I understand the current fashion is for oversized watches, but divers watches don't suit that fashion, you're better off with something like a big Diesel or Nixon watch, with a more square profile and less tapering from the lugs to the top of the bezel

I have always loved green as a watch dial colour, although that could just be because green is my favourite colour. Which makes the fact my favourite watches are the Seiko Save the Ocean range somewhat ironic, since they're all pretty much exclusively blue

Anyway, very good deal, excellent price for a solar-powered ISO 6425 certified watch. Be warned these wear fairly large because of the rather extended lugs, so if you are on the fence about a 44mm case watch, I'd recommend going to a jewellers or watch shop and trying one on before you make a call on it. Also keep in mind that if these have been in the warehouse for a while you might find the battery might be flat or close to flat, if you open it up and it's not running, leave them in direct sunlight for a day before you assume that it's broken.

  • Paid $249 in Feb - $199 is a steal.

Is there a blue version of this? Couldn't find it on the site.

  • Off topic but any DIY tips to remove a couple of links. I wanted to get it done by a professional but keeping forgetting to carry the watch when I go out to run my errands

    • Youtube has vids about that

    • +1

plenty of cheap tools to DIY it, https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=watch+link+remover

      • Plus pretty much any jeweller or Mister Minit will do it for free in about ten seconds.

        • +2

It won't be free. My local MM wanted to charge me $5 for one of those tiny screws that hold the sunglass arm to frame. Went to Spec Savers and they did it for free. They also wanted to charge me $8 for a battery for key fob. Got the same battery at the cheap shop for $1. I now boycott my local MM

Mate for this price I'd get the job done professionally….

    • It's $200 lol. Tools from Amazon would be sufficient enough for this watch

  • Thanks for deal, bought one.

  • I like watches, but hate things on my wrists but god that green is beautiful. So much so that even I contemplated buying it.

    • Yeah, Citizen's emerald green is particularly nice.

The only issue I've found is its really hard to find a rubber or NATO strap that pairs up with it. Most are either a darker moss/olive, or a brighter lime green. Very few rubber straps in an emerald green unfortunately.

  • The hulk

  • this is iso compliant.. meaning certified?
does that mean other watches including citizen dive watches, that don't specify this, aren't really dive watches? i.e. dive style?

    • +2

ISO 6425 is the certification for Diver's watches, to get the certification a watch must

      • Survive submersion at the rated depth for more than 50 hours without any failure to the movement or case

      • show no condensation inside the case when heated to 45 degrees for over 10 minutes with water on the crystal

      • the case and all parts must survive overpressure of 125% for at least 2 hours (so for example, in the case of a 200m it must survive 25ATM for 2 hours without sustaining damage)

      • Survive thermal shock, so heated to 45 degrees and plunged into 5 degree water, then left for ten minutes before being plunged back into 45 degree water.

For any watch to legally display "Diver's" on the dial (as in this watch) it must pass the ISO 6425 certification, although of course buyer beware, if you get a cheap knock off watch it may say Diver's without actually being certified, but any watch you get from a reputable brand in Australia will follow this rule.

Please also be aware that if a watch is opened for any reason it can invalidate the ISO 6425 certification, so if you're buying an older secondhand or have had your watch battery replaced/serviced be aware of this if you actually plan on diving with it.

The other thing to remember is that putting "Diver's" on your watch is optional, so even if your watch is not "officially" certified by ISO, it could still meet or exceed the requirements; a lot of luxury brands may choose not to display on their watches their certification or simply ignore ISO testing in favour of their own in-house certification. Simply put, do your own research before you risk your watch.

Looks good from stock images but after looking at some more images, I think it looks a bit cheap and bulky

Looks better in person than in those photos.

  • Super deal on the bracelet version. Bracelet reported to be great on this model and has ratcheting clasp

So I don't get the deal with these imitation watches. I'm not a watch snob, I don't any own. But is the point of this watch to make it seem like you're wearing a Rolex?

I always see people wear Rolex submariner-like watches, only to notice it's not a Rolex upon closer inspection. Is it just Rolex for the plebs?

    • +3

People like the style. Not everyone can afford a rolex lol

      • -6

I'd feel so embarassed if I was wearing this and someone came up to me and said "Woah, nice Rolex, can I see?"

        • +20

I don't know who you hang around with but they sound like knobs lol

        • +7

Buy one and see if anyone, ever comes up and says rolex. No one, not a single frickin soul will.

          Unless they are bellends.

Have you ever said that to someone? If so, mmkay.

        • Lol no one will ever say that.
The green is not even the same as the hulk.

    • +5

You might be thinking of an invicta watch, or you don't know what a submariner looks like?

    • +6

It's called a divers watch and plenty of brands make similar style

    • +1

This doesn't look like a Rolex Submariner. It looks like a divers watch, which a Submariner is also. Crown is in a different location, this is much thicker, completely different looking dial, hands, hour indicies and bezel, different metals and finish. You would need to be very unfamiliar with a Submariner to mistake this for one.

  • +1

Wish it was a slightly darker green.

    • Definitely seems to be a more light green. I agree darker and more metallic would have been nice.

    • This is the one you're after then - Citizen NY0100-50X Promaster Marine
I have been searching for a good green dial watch at a reasonable price. This Promaster Marine has one of the best all-green look that I have come across.
Wish citizen put this green on on the BN0158.

      • Now that one is gorgeous

      • That's a much nicer one.

    • Weird, as i wish it was that aqua blue that changes depending on light and viewing angles.

Still trying to find a replacement for the one lost in sydney maritime museum

  • Any of the Citizen watches have a sapphire face? I'm sick of scratching my watches

    • Heaps. The Titanium Ecodrives for example.

      • I thought most the eco-drives were sapphire, looking at this and others, I guess not

  • i thought steeldive is a bargain.. but hulk at this price.. well i dont know what's better

  • Paid $229 for this last June

  • Hey guys, I have a SRPG61K (from StarBuy) and love it.
I’m looking for an aftermarket band. Which website would you recommend for Australians? Everyone suggests Strapcode. They seem fine, but it works out to be $130 delivered for a straight end metal band. If that’s what it costs, then that’s what it costs. But I thought I’d ask before pulling the trigger.

    • Plenty of straight end bracelets on Aliexpress, obviously shipping may take longer but I’ve had stuff come pretty quickly before, just pay attention at delivery estimates when you shop as it varies between sellers (some uses snail mails which take legit months).
Should be able to get decent ones for $30-40 landed.

      • Thanks! Just snagged one from there. Just over $100 cheaper. Hopefully I bought the right one. Haha.

      • Hey mate. Hopefully you see this. But just wanted to say thanks for your help a few weeks ago.
I ended up ordering one from AliExpress. Worked out to be $18 delivered and it’s almost perfect. I was able to fit it myself and glad I saved $120. Haha.

        Thanks again!

  • I'm just here patiently waiting for the bulova hack watches to drop or maybe any other field watches :)

  • -3

Bought this because chicks think it’s a Rolex

    • Lol. Really?

  • +2

I don't think I qualify as a watch snob but it's surprising that people find this similar to Submariner.. not every watch with rotating bezel is Submariner homage?

Nice find OP by the way - only if I had thicker wrist..

  • just bought one!

  • +1

Amazing price for a very solid watch.

  • +1

I don't generally like dive watches and I only wear gold but this is nice.

  • +1

Thanks watchnerd I’m a sucker for a green dial ever since I grabbed the Alpinist and Casioak.
Grabbed one of these as well.

    • Great, let me know what you think of it when it arrives?

  • this or the bulk?

  • +1

Thanks watchnerd. Got (probably the last) one!

  • Sad I missed this last night, decided to buy after much back and forth but when I went to the website was sold out.

    • +1

Don't you know the first rule of Ozbargain?

  • can you please recommend a SS bracelet for this watch?

    • It already comes with a SS bracelet.

      • sold out so I bought the rubber strap version. that is why :)

        • +1

Honestly if you wanted a SS bracelet I would’ve waited for this one to go back in stock and on sale again.
You will struggle to find an aftermarket bracelet that fits well physically and aesthetically, and even if you did, it wouldn’t be cheap.
Chances are you may pay close to $199 if you want to source an OEM bracelet from Citizen, by that point just pay this, or even $249 for the entire watch.

          • @zonra: Damn I already bought and contacted starbuy.
