Binge video/audio quality is shite. Is it just me?

Hey all,

Recently watched a show on Binge. 1080p, 3.5Mb H265 stream it looks like. Lots of banding, audio 2 channels!!

Is this the norm? I was a little surprised given a recent show (Raised by Wolves)

Tried both LG tv app and androidtv app. Both pretty average quality compared to Netflix, Stan, Disney and no 5.1 just wow

Cheers

  • Depends on ISP/RSP, some have decent peering and bandwidth, others not so much :/

  • I've never noticed quality dips to be fair, but the app is one of my most hated UIs of all time, its so bad

    • The UI is really bad. For example why does it not bring up the user profiles when you open it? Every other streaming service has this.

  • I switched from Foxtel Now to Binge and definitely seems to not be as clear - but I dont notice enough to throw sh1t at my TV or anything

  • We got a promise of better internet, too many dumbos fell for it. Now live with it!

  • Binge app is just godawful, I have it on my 77C1 and is the worst out of the lot

  • You are surely on $14 plan - just to be sure, are you?

  • Yes $14 plan. You need that for 1080p which I can see in the stream stats

    • +1

ok, I tried mine on app, when I stream Raising by Wolves, there are audio options you can change from Standard to Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus - does this make any difference for you?

      • What device? Thanks for checking

        • My device? S10+. On the movie you are watching I can tap hold down then the option is visible.

          • @foxmulder: Thanks for the tip. On Lg Webos there is no option to change the audio track and from the bitrate shown <100Kb/s can’t be 5.1

However on AndroidTV there is an option to change the audio track to DD and DD+ (great) and this appears to select and apply. Can’t believe the app defaults to Stereo audio and on LG Webos no choice locked to stereo audio!
