Display/Demo TVs Turn off at Night?

Just wondering- those stores such as the good guys, JB HIFI or BING LEE. The display TVs , do they get turned off during nighttime? Or just keep running 24/7. Something is a good indication for buying a display TV or not.

I am going to say at Harvey Norman they would be turned off. Gerry would have a heart attack if they were kept on costing him hard money that he has made from the jobkeeper program.

    • Gerry would not care with the exception of the Auburn store as they are independently run and owned so they would pay the electricity bill. The Auburn mega store is his (or his company).

  • Hi, I think it depends on the store, and their Power bills, however the HN Stores I have worked at, turn nearly everything off at night (unless it's in the front window) thats not necessary. Gerry doesn't want to pay any more money than he has to.

But given my experience working for a number of retailers, all computerised devices would be switched off at night. In the Windows 3.1/95/98 (& MacOS) days in the 90s we would shutdown each device just before closing to prevent any possible corruption.

    • Gerry does not pay, the franchisee pays the bills.

      • Yes, but the franchisee pays Gerry. Gerry has installed solar panels on most sites.
        Gerry also charges interest.

Turned off unless it is viewed from the street (and even then usually turned off).

You can see how many hours are on most TVs. Google the make to see the instructions.

  • Yes my time at JB in hifi the manager turns off the power out the back and this turns off all the TVs in one go and this is also incredibly damaging to OLED TVs as when you turn them off via remote it runs a pixel refresh routine to help with burn in etc.

    • So you don’t recommend to buy display at all, right? How about the extended warranty, do u think it is worth or not really?

        extended warrany

        lmao

        • Only if you can negotiate a better price. Check out rrp for it on-site. Work on 50% off rrp

      • I personally wouldn't, what tv are you looking at and how good of a deal is it ?

Only if you get a good discount 25% or more and there are no scratches and the remote is okay.

If you do go ahead and but a demo make sure you check the screen and it has all of the bits before you sign or hand over ANY $$$ as once you get out of the building you are responsible for any damage or scratched due to delivering it to your lounge room.

If you can get free delivery and setup or get it for cheap then do it as until it is setup you arr covered for any damage (or should be).
