Wait, the DLC by itself it $60 on the eshop!! Omg!

    • Yep! Base game is currently $39.95 on the eShop, so if you bought it that way then it's $100 total.

  • I personally couldn't get into the first Rise game.

    • Did you try/enjoy any of the other MH games?

I played the demo for Sunbreak last night, it does feel nicer to play but if you didn't enjoy the base game then probably won't get into this one much either.

      • I did try to play it during the 3DS days but i found the game mechanics clunky.

I'm not saying the game was bad but might not be for me.

        • Yeah those ones were especially clunky, but I think that's what added to the charm for a lot people (myself included).

Understandable if it never really clicked though.

@mangobango: Totally agree with your comment.

When I first started playing MH I thought the combat was clunky but stuck it through cause I wanted to play with my mates.

I eventually picked up dual blades as I found it to be quicker and smoother than other weapons, I fell in love with the game.
I started understanding the nuances of the combat system and started trying out other weapons and loving the combat from there onwards.

Long story short, if you still have the game and you have a bit of spare time, try picking up dual blades to see how you feel.
If its not for you though, then fair enough, at least you gave it a chance.

    • Wouldn't blame you. It's quite lacking in content (compared to the 3DS games - controversial comparison I know) but the endgame in the base Rise game was really stagnant charm farming. Sure you'd get to 100 hours of game time easy, but that's pretty poor value compared to past MH games where you can easily clock 300+ (if not 1000+) hours of gameplay.

Furthermore, the changes to the weapons in Sunbreak further favour the Long Sword, which was already quite overpowered in the base Rise game. Once you hit endgame in Sunbreak, you're going to only want to play that one weapon because it's the fastest one to grind materials with. The Japanese community are pretty upset about the weapon changes they're going to implement.

And at a price that's very close to the original base game price…doesn't seem worth it to me. Maybe if the expansion drops to $30 in the future.

About an hour ago I went to look at sunrise and hoped it would be $30 or $40. No way I'm buying at $60.

This deal here for the base game and DLC is great.

  • Does anyone know if the sunbreak dlc will be inside the cartridge or separate in a code if you buy this version

    • Separate code but the base game is on the cartridge.

It says on the bottom of the case. A redeemable voucher for sunbreak. So not on the cart, unfortunately.

The price of DLC is too unfriendly to base game players.

  • BIGW pre-order price is 69+delivery fee
