  • great intro to 3d tv. I already have another branded 3d tv but this is an awesome price !!!

  • haha dispatch date July 20
Anyone clue'y on the quality of the panel? And is this active or passive 3d?

    • Items list says it includes 3d Shutter Glasses, which would mean it's active shutter 3d.

yeah but again, its kogan, havent read many good things about them. nice size, 3d and led, good specs… more important are the contrast ratio… also worth noteing its full HD…
    other interesting stats.
    Actual Contrast Ratio5,000:1(ANSI)
    Dynamic Contrast Ratio50,000:1
Response Time 6ms - not great for fast action…
    Built in PVR Function Yes

    Average Consumption<220W
    Energy Consumption551kWh per year (wonder what thats based on…its 110.20 bux a year @20cents a kw…)
    Energy Star Rating 5.5Stars
    Standby Consumption<1W

    • yeah I had their last 55 inch (not 3d) for a couple days, and it really didn't handle games very well - probably attributed to the high response time …got it refunded with their 7 day money back guarantee

      • considering its 100/120HZ its odd that the response time is so bad…i'd imagine it would make the 3d worse?

        • +2

Its not just about the response time.
The image scaler, and any other post-image processing makes more of a difference towards actual input lag.

As far as i know, using 3d makes some games unplayable. Fighting games for example.

          Refresh rate /= response time…

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Response_time_(technology)
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refresh_rate

          Stolen from a google search
"The refresh rate is the number of times the image is displayed per second and the response time is how fast the pixals go from white to color. The higher the hz the better the refresh rate The less milliseconds there are the better the response time."

        • yeah. None of the quoted figures manufacturers give you actually matter in terms of gaming lag.

The only important figure is input lag in ms.
This can only be accurately measured with a crt tv and a camera capable of 60fps (i think). In any case, a good camera is required.

yeah exactly.. ive had a couple of kogan tvs now. they sound good on paper and are tempting with the price, but i wouldnt go near one again.. they lack the refinement of name branded tvs.
