Dell G15 or Acer Nitro 5? - Budget $1000

Budget: $1000

Looking for advice.
The 3060 from nitro is very tempting for this price tag although knowing that Acer is not really great in terms of quality for gaming laptops.

I personally like Dell as a computer brand… a little bit biased.

Therefore looking for advice.

I have that exact dell laptop ive upgraded teh ram to 16gb (bought own stick)

its getting used a desktop replacement using 2 x 32' 1080p monitors it works great. I dont game but dont find it noisy or hot has a 180w power brick. Ryzen means no thunder bolt but my usb c runs a cheap hub as i needed 2nd hdmi outout. only 3 full size usb ports can be a touch annoying as i do use it away from work to charge smart devices.

Does have a "G" mode when fans will run at super turbo mode and are damm noisy.

I have found this Dell runs hot and as Gros21 said, fans are noisy. I switched to an Acer Nitro and found it better. If you really don't need a laptop, I would get a desktop for a better gaming experience and upgrade options.

  • I have the nitro (and dell desktop - im not stuck on either brand). I would go the nitro if you are a gamer, otherwise the dell.

That said they are pretty comparable - the noise @bargainr mentioned isnt an issue on the Nitro.

The quality on the Nitro 5 seems to be fine, though it def is built to a budget at this pricepoint. Not sure about the dell but the ability to add another hdd without removing the existing was also nice.

  • How important is performance because the 3060 6GB trounces the 3050 4GB.

i'm having nothing but dramas with acer from the nitro 5.

The series has known overheating issues and they don't care.
