Why No Good i5-12600K EOFY Deals?

Hi, I'd consider buying a new pc if a good deal came around but can't seem to find a great deal (sub $2000) with a 12600k and mid range video card (3060 /6660 or similar).I can see ok deals with older hardware but given I'm replacing my i5-2600k I'm keen to get something that has the potential longevity that this on has. I am fine to wait another few months too if that's a good option given the new tech over the horizon.

Any businesses worth contacting and negotiating with? I can't be bothered finding parts and building myself.

cheers in advance

Amazon has no current stock and says usually dispatched in 1-2 months.

Other retailers like PLE, Mwave, Scorptec have limited stock and no discounts offered at all.

This indicates a likely availability shortage issue and therefore probably not being offered in custom builds.

    • Interesting observation. I will set up a tracker on Amazon perhaps. Might give some indication of general supply. Cheers for the info

Intel has said they expect shortages to last into 2024. They might also be already working to switch production to Raptor Lake, which will be producing chips on the same node (and thus using the same fab space). Those are rumoured to be coming out in October.

No one will negotiate, margins aren't very big on PC parts and you're only buying one. Best hope is an ebay sale where ebay funds part of it.

  • they had a run of banger deals before eofy, it was cpu mobo and water cooler. may still be up if you can track them down and they have stock still
