I've been scouring this website and others and i've had not much luck at actually booking, seems like everytime i get to end they're like ooops we're out of that flight now.

good price but perhaps spending 4 days of your 14 holiday in planes/airports doesn't seem like the best idea.
Anything >30hr SYD-LHR is kinda absurd (I've done a 9 & 14hr layover where layover is during the day, like this, and you're sore & exhausted when you get to your destination)
I agree, I wouldn’t do it, I prefer to fly via Middle East (booked 10 months earlier.)
But if I was younger, short of cash and had plenty of time off, I’d give it a go. You could always do some sightseeing or check into a $20 airport hotel have a swim and nap between flights.

I was 21 when I did this.
Went in Air China, which was mediocre at best
9 hr layover on the way to London.
Layover city was Chengdu, China (the old airport)
Terminal was complete shit, but couldn’t leave as there was quite a storm outside during our outbound leg.
On return we had 14 hr layover and headed out. Looked great outside, but it was 40c and about 90% humidity. We went to the Panda Zoo during their school holidays.Wasn’t a fun experience.
Return flight was $1100 so was worth it overall (given we flew out at this time of the year and came back in early Aug)
