    it said Resolution 1080p (1920x1080)

    • +1

It has 3840×2160 resolution, wrong description on costco website.

    • Strange, the amazon link says true 4k resolution

      • Reviews on Google mentioned it's 4K, but not true-4K.

      • It’s pixel shift 4K

        • So 1080 is actually correct haha.

          • @MagnamoniousRex: Not really. Perceived 4k is true 4k.

This is a 1080p display that wobulates so fast that it creates 4x resolution perception (2x2 on 1080p).

This is in some ways similar to CRTs with their 1 pixel electron gun scanning across the screen so quickly as to generate however many pixels is required for an image.

@Zaptruder: It's not 4K then, it's similar to up-rezzing native resolution to simulate another which isn't the same as real, native resolution.

You can't create new data, so the resolution is 1080p (upscaled).

It is displaying 3840x2160 pixels from a 4K signal. It just isn't as sharp as a native 4K display.

It doesn't create new data. It isn't upscaled.

Does it really worth buying it?
The lamp replacement cost almost the same price.
I'm contemplating this or a 75inch TV like TCL or Hisense.

      get a 75/82" TV imo

I don't know where you getting $1700 bulbs but it is horses for courses. You will get a much bigger screen size but the quality won't be as good as you want if you don't have a good light control or screen.

    • I'm seeing around $200 a bulb, not $1,700

      The lamp replacement

      Lamp replacement ?
They last literally thousands of hours - you aren't going to be replacing the lamp for many years. Lamp cost is a none issue.

If you want a TV then buy a TV. This is a projector, they're not interchangeable or even really comparable 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • I already have 2 TVs so thinking about having a media room its 3X3 room. Couple of friends told me that you can't compare a TV and Projector.
I mainly watching movies and series so prefer to have a big screen.
I m considering laser projector as well.
        Aiming to spend below 2.5K

        • Your friends are absolutely right - if you have a dedicated room, then a projector is absolutely the way to go - you can't get a TV anywhere close to the same size.

They're two different display types for totally different purposes.

You will need some light control in the room for the best results 👍

      • Exactly, I have one of the epson EH-TW5200 for almost 9 years and using it every weekend (except some holidays away from home) for movies and sports still have 3000 hours left and never missed a beat. By the time ready for change the lamp (it will be another couple of years) I will simply buy another one

    • The only benefit a projector brings is absolute size. If you're not looking for anything bigger than 85" then it doesn't make sense to buy a projector.

Lamp cost about 200 and I reckon I need a technician to replace cost about another couple of hundreds.

Lamp replacement is an easy DIY job. 15 min work if you're taking it easy. Most manufacturers will supply instructions even.

This lamp has a life of ten thousand hours - you could watch a movie every single night for the next ten years (!) before you need to replace the lamp.
        It's a none issue - you'll probably want a new 16K projector by then…

        • I don’t even think I’ve spent close to 10,000 hours in front of the TV in my entire life

        • -2

With the current power cost increase, you dont want to watch everyday either.

@John Doh: What's your alternative? Sit in the dark with a candle and read a book? People will still watch TV regardless.

It's heating and cooling that matters.
