  • Hi Op, what is refund policy if this doesnt work with my system ?

    • +1

If the product is still in as new condition (and with all packaging etc) it if can be returned within 30 days if not suitable.

Happy to have a chat though to let you know if it's suitable for your system and how you'd like to use it.

      Fantastic product though.

  • How to massively improve your audio life.

    Step 1: Buy this
    Step 2: Subscribe to Quboz
    Step 3. Enjoy!

    • Screw Tidal?

      • Yeah

Go the uncompressed hi res rather than Tidal compressed MQA.

      • Tidal is bad because of mqa.

Mqa is a lossy format but they advertise as lossless

mqa gets paid when you subscribe to tidal making the subscription more expensive.

Mqa only lets some people use there encoder to hide that the output is not lossless.

Mqa has been proven by many people that it is lossy.

Qobuz is lossless because it uses FLAC.

FLAC is free lossless audio codec that's free to use and is proven to be lossless.

        • Tidal is fine, especially for $3 a month for family (VPN) and the catalogue is somewhat bigger.

Did a trial of qobuz, sounded pretty good. Bit sure you'd really hear much difference, but in the audio World people are sticklers for details.

I've got one DAC with mqa and another without, comes through great without mqa @48khz.

Bluesound node would be good for people with a variety of AV equipment, personally run a RPi 4 and volumio, great bang for buck (raspberry pi stock probably still difficult though).

          • @G-rig: i dont think that you would hear the difference but i still dont like giving mqa any money.

            • @HaydosK: Ok. Doesn't mean you have to use it or buy an mqa decoder.. still high res audio.

            • @HaydosK: ps. I know what you're saying, I've got a fairly extensive FLAC collection I still listen to sometimes with Foobar (and now can stream using Volumio). CD quality is fine if your equipment/setup is decent (and that's where most people spend the money, better speakers/ amps etc).

Ps The cost is similar for the high res versions though.

              • Tidal HiFi- $11.99 AUD a month with lossless High Fidelity sound quality (1411 Kbps)
              • HiFi Plus - $23.99 AUD a month with lossless High Fidelity sound quality (1411 Kbps), Master Quality audio (up to 9216 Kbps), and immersive audio - 360 Reality Audio, Dolby Atmos Music
              • Qobuz Monthly subscription available at $19.99/month (trial for $16.99), yearly plans cheaper.

I wouldn't pay $36 for Tidal Family HiFi Plus, but was just pointing out that it is much cheaper (and a fantastic deal) in other countries. $12 is reasonable for CD quality given the library, and was paying $11-12 for Google Play Music for 3 years in the past. Shame they got rid of that as YT music is very average (especially the sound quality). Most youngers just care about the Video streaming side of things :P

              • @G-rig: Can we have… hm…. Quboz in… other countries?

                • +1

@SickDmith: You can but haven't noticed it offered in any cheap countries in the past (mind you some at probably cheaper than Australia now lol).
Edit: just had a look, seems like Argentina is on the list. Maybe have a Google but be weary of that tax they sometimes add, as it may not be much cheaper.

                • +1

@SickDmith: May have to look into Qobuz and Deezer too - there's still no sign of Spotify Hi-Fi (lossless), not that I've ever been a spotify user. There is still a lot of hate around Tidal / MQA, basically Tidal removing the Hi-Fi version (FLAC 16 bit / 44.1) and replacing with an MQA 16 bit version even if you are on the Hi-Fi setting. They used to have (and still do for a lot) both versions of tracks but a lot are only based on the MQA version (which messes with the Mastering/noise). Still alright for $3/month but wouldn't mind testing the others again.

                • +1

@SickDmith: dont think there are many working hacks yet, 1 month trial then $19.99
Hmm will just take the trial and test out again possibly.

    • Quboz or qobuz?

      • Qobuz

        • That's what I said.

I just didn't spell it that way.

  • Holy moley, Sonos connect on steroids eh?

    Edit: Port* 🤪

    • Similar I guess, higher end version if you're serious about sound quality in your system and want High-Res Audio.

Also has some other features like a HDMI eArc connection to get audio back from your TV to your stereo system and USB output for connecting to an external DAC (if you are really serious about your sound quality).

  • Any deals on the Bluesound Powernode?

    • You could get the node and hook up an external DAC and amp

    • Unfortunately not at the moment other than the discounted price they're listed for.
