This is old, but for those who care, Thankyou used to support "Christian organisations".

In August 2013, it was revealed that Thankyou was giving up to 30 per cent of its profits to Samaritan's Purse – a controversial evangelical Christian organisation that proselytises in developing countries "with the aim of demonstrating God's love and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ".[9] Samaritan's Purse was not a signatory to the code of conduct run by the Australian Council for International Development, which bans aid as a vehicle for promoting religion or political groups and requires financial transparency and auditing. Thankyou Group co-founder and managing director Daniel Flynn also acknowledged the company had ties to the Planetshakers Church. Soon afterwards, Thankyou Group announced that it would no longer support Samaritan's Purse.[10]

      Thankyou…

What's the problem exactly? They supported religious groups providing aid, and then stopped, a decade ago.

      • +6

It's worth being aware of. Christian aid in Africa has ruined a lot of lives with the import of homophobia and such, leading to the criminalisation of homosexuality and the murder of countless gay people in countries that historically had no issues with divergent sexualities. It sounds like this business learned their lesson and stopped providing money to them. But they do still worth with Salvation Army, which is not a charity it is actually a church that tried to scare Australian's into voting against gay rights, which is something I'll never forget. If they spread fear ads against you and your right to get married you'd never forget too.

        • Exactly. I was not passing judgement, just putting out the facts because it might affect some people's purchasing decision. Thankyou for for attending my Thankyou talk.

        • Like the African country that declared GOD will protect them from COVID and refused to acknowledged cases even whilst its people suffered greatly and many many died?

Then were ineligible for COVID support due to 0 covid cases from official government metrics…

      • +2

No problem perse, but just consider what charities the company currently supports (or will support) before making a decision.

    • +3

Yes that is old, but almost 10 years on now so not sure how it's relevant.

Continue purchasing ThankYou products if it's what you like (or don't like).

So its $10 a litre but still considered good value?

I prefer the Sukin brand personally. I first noticed a lot of hotels using it and I like the citrus flavour and smooth consistency.

  • I haven't finished the ones I bought from this deal yet: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/654729

Am I the only one that avoids this brand?

I met the guy that started it with the thank you water and all he did was talk about how great he was and he was saving lives / the world Yada Yada

I think the concept is good but ever since I met the guy I go out of my way to never buy this even if it's on sale 😹

Probably the only one on here that does that tho hah

Am I too petty? Probably lol

    • +2

Nah it's like a white saviour complex thing… Saving the world and all that. Thankyou seems great, but they're not going to change much.

I find this soap crap and the dispenser is annoying. It doesn't lather much, which isn't great when trying to teach toddlers to wash their hands.
When I press down to dispense it takes an age to pop back up to go again.
    For that reason I'm out.

    • +1

      It's a sanitiser lol

      • +1

D'oh wrong product. I stand by what I said regarding their soap though. Garbage.

      • It's useless sanitiser, doesn't evaporate just leaves your hands sticky and disgusting.

        Go back to Kazakhstan! ;)

Kazakhstan, greatest country in the world
All other countries are run by little girls
Kazakhstan, number one exporter of potassium
All other countries have inferior potassium

        • mmmm potassiummmm

I have the same issue with the Sukin pumps, pops back up very slowly. But I buy it anyway because I like the liquid inside.
