As the local neighbourhood Karen who doesn't understand how business hierarchies work I blame you, @WoodYouLikeSomeCash, specifically, for this outrage. How dare you raise the prices of your pizza delivery.

  • Oh no, not another price increase.

Godfather also increased to $8.95, and some stores have value pizzas at $5.95, up from the $5 price we used to love.

    Almost everyone is increasing prices.

    Oh, WoodYouLikeSomeCash is back.

    • Godfather also increased to $8.95, and some stores have value pizzas at $5.95, up from the $5 price we used to love.

Still not as bad as some stores. Value Max. Value.

  • No issue with this if it goes towards the delivery people…

So many people pay ~30% extra on items PLUS service charge PLUS delivery fees on UberEats etc without batting an eyelid.

    • It goes towards the store to help pay for “increased costs”. Sadly nothing (apart from the minimum wage increases) for delivery drivers.

Apparently it will take extra work to integrate the fee into the offline ordering system so if you call your store (as opposed to ordering online) their may be a chance for a week or so where the fee won’t apply.

  • +4

This on top on you guys already super thinning the pizzas to crackers sizes ??

    Well done @dominos in 2022

  • +2

I've always chosen the pick-up option when ordering from them.

  • +2

Oft. If one is drunk enough however to order dominoes it won’t matter however

    • +1

      Totally agree - it's terrible 😂

      • It’s bizarre every now and then when it’s passable haha, which is probably 1/10 orders

  • in fairness considering the cost of petrol/transport/wages/ingredients im surprised this hasn't happened sooner -

i dont really eat Dominos nothing against it im just not a massive pizza guy but for those that do im guess they do because its a cheap feed and this might hit them hard.

  • 6% Delivery Service Fee

This fee will reduce the demand for junk food.

  • +3

This doesn't make sense, delivery orders already cost more. Why don't they just increase delivered prices? Are they trying to be confusing by charging extra for delivery plus a 6% fee on top, maybe they think people aren't able to do the maths to work out exactly how much delivery is costing them compared to pickup?

    • +2

It’ll be very confusing for coupon deals especially as it will be advertised as 3 Pizzas from $33.95 but in reality it’ll be 3 Pizzas for $33.95 + 6%.

    • For the same reason that we pay tax plus a medicare levy. Or tax plus an emergency services fee on insurance. So you think the extra price is going to pay the costs of the 'named' service and hence dont kick up a fuss. Easier to add 2% medicare levy than increasing the tax rate by 2%

Just got the email today, so first I knew about this and Quantumcat comment exactly my thoughts. If they want to charge a service fee then to me the pizza should be the same price as pizza if picking up plus the 6% for delivery, so those coupon deals shouldn't need to differentiate between delivery and pick up price as both should be the same.

  • +10

Service fees based on a percentage, shouldn't be allowed.
Just charge more for the product. Just a sneaky way to charge more without ppl being able to cleary see the fee
Also allows them to keep advertising products at a cheaper price and looking more competitive against others, when the final cost will be higher.

  • +4

Don't they already charge extra for delivery?

  • +2

I wish they would bring back giant telephones on the roofs of their delivery cars

  • +1

I don't order Dominos pizza anymore. Pizza sizes are getting smaller and smaller, and my last pizza delivery they were just slapped together on the ingredients I was horrified at them and looked like they didn't even cook properly.

    • Well they are made by 15 year olds. Look at the average 15 yr old and decide if you would trust them to pay attention for a 4 or 6 hour shift

  • +1

So deliveries cost more and the pizzas get smaller.

  • The displayed prices are local prices at your selected store only. Delivery Service Fee of 6% applies to online delivery orders at selected stores Monday – Saturday.

The blurb on the homepage says selected stores. Where'd you get your info for 'all deliveries'.

My wild guess may be the surcharge is for stores that use Menulog or similar?

No service fees or delivery charges on our home made pizzas. Thicker crust and taste much nicer. Leave Dominoes garbage for dead.

    • You are making actual food at home, not shit, unfair to compare to Domino's. Try a KFC knock off recipe at home and you will have the same experience.

  • Perhaps something to do with the Australian cultural shift towards American-style tipping. Was in the news the other day. It's just more official-looking this way.

    • +1

That's what worries me about this. Regulator should make rules against this.

  • +1

Do you like how the day later on the 5th of July they have the $4, $6 and $8 deal with $2 garlic breads?

  • I guess if enough people unsubscribe they might notice.

  • They've got to combat the rise in costs. Service fees are not uncommon and has less 'sticker shock' then raising menu prices. Every delivery aggregator charges service fees, buying movie tickets online, buying tickets to any sporting/entertainment event? All charge service fees. Just a fact of life now.

Guess you can make your own dinner to save some $$. To make a nice salad you'll need to buy a lettu…..oh

$8.95 pizza isn't sounding too bad now! ;)

    • Less shock? I was going to order today and I saw the service fee and (profanity) that order off.

      • @Detective fishlips it’s nothing to do with combating rising cost, it’s just them taking advantage of this inflation crisis, drivers aren’t being paid more nor are staff. Drivers still get a measly $0.48 per KM driven in their personal car which barely allows them to pay for fuel let alone the cost of maintenance and franchisees continue to make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

        • I believe they get paid an hourly rate as well on top of that.

Don't forget, food costs have increased quite substantially. We see that in supermarkets, restaurants as well. Fast food is about low margins, high volume products. Electricity and gas has spiked too. no doubt it's hit the pockets of franchisees.

A true ozbargainer only picks up

  • Stone baked in air fryer has changed my at home made pizzas even with store bought crust.

The cheap value pizzas are ok for the price but i always regret eating it after. The more expensive ones are not worth it unless you’re desperate

  • Want to share how to make dominoes periperi sauce?
Or is there a brand in grocery stores taste close to it?

    • Majority of dominos products including sauces aren’t proprietary and in some cases are just supermarket products anyway. Obviously they’re sourced in bulk though to make it cheaper.

      • couldn't find a brand thats similar to it :/

      • Hey OP when did dominos introduced a surcharge on CC payments through Visa/Mastercard network ?

Or is it only that specific store that wanted to charge me extra ?
