LINNMON / OLOV 150x75 or BEKANT (Non Sit-Stand) 160x80

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new desk which I can set to a height of 68cm. I don't need an electric sit-stand desk which is going to cost me >$500.

There are really not many options available and I'm left with choosing between my current LINNMON / OLOV 150x75cm or getting the BEKANT (non sit-stand) 160x80.

Is the BEKANT much more sturdy than the LINNMON / OLOV combo?

TIA!

  • Yes, the Bekant desks are definitely more sturdy. The Linnmon tops are light but will start to bow over time unless they are properly reinforced underneath. Due to the material too it's hard to drill screws into them as the screws just start to turn in the material.

They'd be fine for laptop use, but for putting a heavier monitor in the middle of the desk I would not recommend them.

  • Have you considered something like a countertop from Bunnings (or wherever) to pair with whatever base you get from Ikea? You can ask them to cut it to size for you too.

    • I have pretty much zero DIY skills so no.

  • Linnmon/olov does wobble a bit if you lean on it or other things… Depends what you’re doing with it.
