  • for $40 it couldnt hurt to have a guitar lying around the house, anyone know of the quality? for this price i wouldnt expect much although quite possibly a good starting point…

    • I assume the quality is worse than you'd hope for

This was on COTD a month ago… I bought it just for the sake of having a Guitar :P… its a good guitar for absolute beginners… quality is ok… strings plays well…

    • what about the dvd and book quality wise? Are they really helpful?
and how much was on COTD?

      • +1

Just use http://justinguitar.com, free (or donation) good quality lessons

        • thanks martyn. that looks like a really good site.
im searching for something similar for drum too :)

      • frankly speaking.. i haven't opened the DVD yet.. I just downloaded guitar lessons and that's working fine for me… It was at the same price on COTD too… I think tehy are the same company…

  • Holy crap! that is a cheap guitar. I just wonder how much better you could practice if you got a slightly better one.

  • Did anyone check the quality?

I have got the deal from COTD, coz learning to play guitar is on my "Bucket List" :)
What I noticed was the guitar would lose the tuning after a good strumming session and as the guy in the tutorial DVD say's buy a good quality guitar that will not lose it's tuning.

I have taken 2 lessons from the DVD, haven't touched the book but I was surprised to find that my Mac Book air had Garage Band and it had free guitar lessons (can't compare with the DVD because I just found using my Mac to learn and play more convenient).

The good thing about the app was (I am mac and guitar playing n00b) was that I could tune it using the onboard mic and it also has lessons from stars (paid) i.e. Strings teaching you Roxanne etc.

      My suggestion will be:-
      - Find a friend/work colleague who knows about guitars and seek guidance
      - Then visit a local shop hold the guitar (brand as recommended by your friend) and see if your body falls in love with it (not to mention your wallet)
      - Ensure that your friend crosses his/her heart that the branded guitar will not lose it's TUNING and then buy it.

If you have Ipad or Mac then you can use Garage band for lessons (it's pretty handy)

  • Is this the full size guitar or smaller one?

      (Re-read Scoopon's deal page for this;
your Q is answered explicitly there :)

  • Doesn't seem to work for a new member (all is fine, until person tries to Buy the deal, when there's an "error in the form" going to PayPal).

    Scoopon's web app seems broken… :-(

  • As far as quality goes, I’d consider these Suzuki classical acoustic guitars.
From a real music shop and designed for learning on. Includes free shipping and bag.

Slightly more expensive but worth the extra.

Comparing the prices, Suzuki one is priced at 2.25 times. How is it "slightly expensive"?

      • +1

If its under $100, its close enough! Quality guitars start at $500. You get what you pay for.
As far as learning goes, if you buy a badly made guitar, you won't far. They won't stay in tune, internation is out and strings are too high for kids to play and learn. Simple!
I see it all the time, people buy crap instruments and end up having to buy a better one not long after.

        • Could you give us a deal on the guitar? :)

Tempted to buy it with a ukelele as well, but just hope for some further incentive to make the purchase =D
