Looking for an Invisible (Concealed) Wireless Charger Recommendations

I just got a new Omnidesk and want to make some tweaks to the setup.
I am looking for recommendations to buy a wireless charger that I can fix under the tabletop and have concealed.

I saw such a setup on Youtube and want to achieve a clean desk as much as possible. I have minor OCD and can't stand cluttered desks with zillion wires around.

Have any of you used any such wireless charging pad? Should I look for a certain wattage? Links please.

Current Devices: OnePlus 9 Pro, Airpod Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and a few other wireless charging-enabled devices.

PS: if you have any other recommendations for wire-management tools, feel free to share your tips.

If the charging pad has to charge through the table it can't be efficient. An option is to get a stylish desk lamp with a charging pad built in. So it doesn't clutter your desk.

I have one of these. IMO, it's neat when it works but has a few drawbacks:

    1. You have to be very close to the pad location (just like all Qi chargers) but since it's invisible, you need to apply a guide sticker that marks out the sweet spot. If you muck that up, rather than just not charge until you get to a sweet spot, you have to lift the phone off the table completely then try again.

    2. Gets very hot if it's above 20*C ambient. Whilst normal Qi charging is already very hot, the charger itself has to work extra hard to conduct through a tabletop and thus heats up the table surface even more. Pretty high potential to degrade phone battery - I'm convinced my phone's battery degraded

    3. Slow charging - the 10W rating is technically true, but only if it's not heated up already. Most of the time, when I'm observing the incoming current, it's around 3-5W and when it's so hot, it stops charging period. See above comment.

    4. Doesn't work with metal desktops (duh).

If I was to do it all over again, I'd probably just get a charger for a cutout in the desk, but like you I was attracted to the concept of invisible charging.

    • Yeah, setup on youtube attracted me to this concept and looks appealing but the drawbacks are significant.

I am quite worried about #2 above, as I rely heavily on my phone for hundreds of apps and changing phones is a nightmare.
Not so worried about #1; got a regular tabletop so clear of #4.

Based on your feedback and EastsLikeACat above, I will stick to the desk lamp with a charger. :(

Thank you so much for your insights.

  • I found wireless charging pads usually only have 5-10w output, which take ages to charge.

I use magnetic charging cable, usually hide the cable under table, and put the connector bits on the table as they are quite small.

  • Haven't used this, just noticed it on the website
