Melbourne good food and wine show

Anyone knows more detail about this?

I am wondering if this will be similar to the Melbourne food festival as I missed that earlier this year.

And does anyone have links to offer for this as well?

Thanks.

  • I don;t think they are similar. I believe the Melb food festival is about restaurants.

The Melb GF&W show will have some prepared foods to buy and eat on the day, but that is not the focus.

There will be hundreds of stalls with food products and services. You will have food and alcohol product stalls where you can have a tiny sample and buy if you like, there will be stalls selling appliances, cookbook stands, stands where magazine subscriptions are sold, stalls selling aprons and gadgets. There will be demos. Luv A Duck will be there with demos throughout the day showing you how to debone a duck or cook a duck or use one of their duck products, people will be promoting cooking holidays and cooking classes.

There are some good deals to be had at the show. I leave with a full trolly with bags hanging off the side, arranged artfully to that the trolly remains balanced and does not tip over. That is the only day of the year I ride the bus here in Perth. I go downstairs and there is the bus. It takes me about 40 metres from my front door. It may take 45 minutes, but it is better than not consuming copious amounts of alcohol and buying far too much stuff.

There are also celebrity shows. I skip those as they are fluff.

This year they are doing private lunches with celebrity chefs. By private, I mean 14 people. I am taking my daughter to the Manu Fidel lunch ($195X2), but on a different day from my knees up day, which I generally reserve for the friday and I do it alone, otherwise I am distracted from my mission.

I have been to the Melbourne show. It is magnificent. Better than the Perth show. Here in Perth, it is probably about 50% alcohol. In Melbourne, from recollection, it is more food than grog.

  • Thanks for the heads up, that is very informative.

Am I right to say its more like a culinary departmental stores in Myers then it is to the foodcourt? (Generalizing but that's the picture I got.)

By the way, may I know what were some of the good deals you've got? (Are they cooking pans and stuffs?)

I guess I will be expecting wine tasting + cooking related products rather then food at the show?

    Thanks again.

  • I will explain more Sunday night or Monday. A bit frazzled after the ballet tonight. Too much full frontal male nudity for my liking. Amoung other too much ofs.
