Out of curiosity, have any Ozbargain-ers ever won any of these competitions? I've been joining them for years and never won squat. Has made me glad I never spent money on the lotto.

I won one a few years ago

Same here, but I forgot to mark as won

I won a kettle a couple of years ago, still use it. Very nice Brevville one

Yeah I've won quite a few myself!

    • I’ve only been heavily “addicted” to online competition entering for about a year. 1 medium win, 1 small win, 2 minuscule wins.

Keep at it, and eventually some luck will come your way. It’s a lot like job applications but on a mammoth scale. That age old saying “got to be in it, to win it.”

    • I've entered 5838 competitions through OzBargain and I've won 85. I honestly think that's not as bad of a ratio as it seems. I've had a few really awesome wins and definitely would recommend anybody to just keep at it and my main advice would be to really try that little bit harder at the competitions that require a bit of effort. Because when they require effort, then there are less entrants, which in turn means a better chance of winning. Goodluck!

T&C "By entering, you consent to receive email or SMS messages from the Promoter without any functional unsubscribe facility"

one of the terms and conditions ……. so how do you unsubcribe after competition ?

    • +3

You let them know that not having an unsubscribe facility is a breach of the spam act. It won't matter though, they'd have already sold your data to 4,500 third parties.

    • I'd recommend a burner-phone SIM for regular comp entries. And you can always block particular senders if you can't get their "stop" / unsubscribe function to work.
