Moving House from Sydney to Melbourne - Any Recommendations for Removalists?

Hi Everyone

We will be moving home from SYD to MEL = Any recommendations for packers and movers?

Currently I have a fully furnished 4 bed home in Syd, we are selling off most of the things but yeah keeping TV, beds, sofa, coffee table, kitchen things, home-gym, home-office and quite a bit of other things.

I haven't moved houses like ever and looking for advise on how can I save $ and and if you have used any service for this, please pass on the information.

Thanks.

Interestate removals are a whole different ballgame to regular removals. Used Allied Pickfords earlier this year (Woolongong to Brisbane) and they were very professional and I would recommend them. Don't expect it to be cheap though. We had a time crunch (like only move one possible day) and only had a very short time (4 days) to clear the house and get everything ready, so this was our only option.

  • Make sure you take out insurance. Their insurance isn't worth the paper it's written on….

When I relocated within NSW, my employer used Grace.
Their uplift was great, the other end was lacking.
    Overall they were reasonable.

As mentioned above, make sure you have all your high valuable or irreplaceable items insured and documented with the company you choose.

  • I'd recommend going with a larger mob…

Mate got shafted by removalists few years ago going Melb -> Newcastle… he made the mistake of telling them he had to be out by Saturday - Booked for Friday.. Then Friday they didn't show up..
Saturday they turned up and all of a sudden it was 750 ore than the original quote.. He had no choice
They also stung him for storage as he wasn't there until Wednesday which wasn't mentioned in original quote

  • I went for the cheapest quote on an interstate move and they crammed everything into the tiniest truck imaginable. I still have some damaged furniture at my house years later.

  • I used this company twice in 12 years. It's not really regular enough custom to know if they are better or worse than others, but they beat the quotes of others at the time. I think they sub out to the actual removalists so it's not like they are uniform wearing company removalists.

I still have a slightly feeling I lost a box during the move 12 years ago as there is a typewriter and a framed university degree that is missing in my life and have no idea where they went to, but I honestly can't say for sure!

  • We've moved interstate a few times and were happy with Grace removals who also beat other quotes and did a good job with the relocation.
In the past the quotes we've had from Allied were double that of Kent and grace on a few occasions so don't consider them anymore.
If you didn't have furniture then sending boxes through tnt can be affordable too. Cheers

Those guys that were on the news during lockdowns.
They seem to guarantee delivery even in the middle of a lockdown so they must be committed.

  • We used Grace removals as well and they were good. Remember the cheapest isn't the best.

  • Used Grace. Not the cheapest but everything was in tip top condition when arrived at the destination. And they were super quick to get everything on truck upon arriving at my place. Just make sure all items are well packed before their arrival. Admin was also pretty smooth. A case manager would send me all the required documentation and i didnt have to worry too much except itemise, sign and pay.

    • We know you work for them Brandon.

Also you know you misspelled your own name in your username, right?
