Missing Items from a PC Parts Order - HELP

Hi,

I spent approximately $3k on parts for an entire 3080 build all from one store, and the only thing I ended up receiving was the CPU cooler, PSU and case.

There were two separate packages, both of which I accepted directly from the AusPost delivery driver. One contained the case and the other was meant to contain everything else.

I've contacted the store and they say that everything was sent out correctly and if I'm missing anything that I should talk to AusPost. They also have sent back photos of the order being packed at their warehouse.

I am absolutely in shock and have no idea what to do. I've read online that Australia Post only compensate up to $100.

Any help will be very much appreciated. This is a lot of money for me and I don't know what I can do.

    1. Check weights on box or through auspost.
    2. Check seals/tape to see if the boxes have been opened.
    3. Charge back if brought on card.

The seals were perfectly fine when I received it and I'm going to check weights through auspost tomorrow. ZIP unfortunately.

OZ post will do nothing as you did not send the parcel. The company needs to chase it up.

If you paid by CC then say to the company that you will do a CC charge back as the goods were not what you ordered as there are bit missing. You will need to speak with the CC company and find out how to dispute a delivery with missing items. I suspect you may need to get a signed legal affidavit for the CC do do anything.

    • Do you think I can do the same if I paid via ZIP but it's set up to charge my CC fortnightly?

What PC store is it? Reputable?

Under australian consumer law, the seller is responsible for resolving any issues that arise through the company used for delivery of the product. That being said, it also depends on when the property is transferred from seller to buyer. The webpage may specify this in the links at bottom that nobody reads.

    For Vic for example:

“If a product arrives damaged, it may not meet the ‘consumer guarantee’ of acceptable quality.

To meet this guarantee, it must be:

    • fit for the purpose for which it is commonly supplied

    • safe, durable and free from defects

    • acceptable in appearance and finish

Depending on whether the damage is major or minor, the consumer may be entitled to a refund, repair or replacement

If the store won't help- charge back.

        Items Lost in Transit

For items that have been dispatched and have exceeded their estimated delivery time by more than one business day, we recommend contacting the delivery partner in the first instance. Our delivery partner will then lodge an enquiry on your behalf and attempt to locate your item. If it has been more than three business days since the order was due to be delivered, please get in touch with us to let us know, and we will escalate the issue with our Delivery Partner.

Once an enquiry has been lodged with our delivery partner, we expect one of two different outcomes:

        • Our Delivery Partner advises your item has been located and delivers the item to you

        • Our Delivery Partner advises your item cannot be located and is deemed 'lost.'

As this search is extensive and conducted by our partner, we cannot expedite this, and it can take some time for your item to be located.

Should your item be deemed lost, we will organise for a refund or a replacement item to be delivered to you, depending on stock availability and your preference.

Off UMarts website- If the item is deemed lost, they will send a replacement or refund you. They also clearly state to contact Umart, who will then contact the delivery partner. Hold them to it lol.

        • Thank you heaps. You've given me some direction to go from here.

The sender is ausposts customer, not you. It is their responsibility that you receive your items, them telling you to contact auspost is them fobbing you off.

Take photos of what you received in the packaging and send the photos back to them, and tell them what items are missing. At best auspost misplaced part of the package and they can find it and redeliver it, at worst you tell them you will return what you got and ask for a full refund.

post the video, maybe it wasn't packaged well.

I have only received 3 photos from them. I have requested a full video of the box being packed as you can't see any of the missing items in the photos.

Thank you for that. I'm going to try my best over the phone tomorrow

Lol well that really isn't proof at all from them that the items were packed. They are fobbing you off and hoping for the best.

as you can't see any of the missing items in the photos.

That's simple then. Tell them "as you can see from the photos you provided, none of the missing items were present when packing the order."

  • Would the boxes you did receive fit everything including the GPU?

Just had this happen with BPCTech and AusPost losing a 3070Ti.

Bigger sellers like Umart and BPCTech have shipping agreements with AusPost, which include insurance for the full amount of the order.

I contacted AusPost to lodge a claim, then contacted BPCTech letting them know I had done so. After some back and forth and bullshit wait times in classic AusPost fashion, the card was finally considered lost after 2 months. BPCTech then offered a refund or replacement with free express shipping.

I don't believe contacting AusPost is necessary though, Umart should be able to handle it all for you. If the rep refuses just sternly ask for an escalation quoting the value of your order.

Nothing like picking up parts in person…. hindsight….

    • I definitely try, though if you're without transport then big things like a case can unfortunately require delivery. Anything like a video card or CPU though I try to pick up myself to reduce the chance of something going wrong like this.
