Large Monitor with Stand That Can Go Low

This morning i broke my dell 29UW (dropped my phone after a stressful call, it bounced off my XXXL mouse pad and the corner of my phone case hit the base of the monitor, i didnt think it was bad a hit or anything ,no mark but unluckily it must have been the angle, the screen busted up…) that i bought through ozbargain back in 2013 / 2014… It was the only larger than (24") monitor that fits on my desk due to the shelves attached above my desk blocking a lot of monitors / stands. But this monitor stand was able to bring the screen all the way down to almost the bottom of the stand and hence i was able to fit it in.

Do they still have Dell monitors with stands like this, i would like another 29 or larger UW . I have a alienware 34 but that stand is way too big to fit. Even the Alienware 25 i have, wouldnt fit with the stand. The clearance of the shelf is 40cm basically. The Dell 29UW went so low it easily fit in that as well as other dell 24". But all my other monitors from 27+ dont fit due to their stands not going low or moving at all.

Why not use a flexible one?

North Bayou is the ozb stand of choice

Spec sheets are available online. Can measure it from the vesa mount

    • Is there a easy way to display pictures on ozb? Or a preferred choice of website to link to? I probably have to show my desk but basically not much space or an actual ledge on the desk to have mounts on sadly.

But I am open to trying a mount definitely. Probably will then let me use one of my current spare monitors like the Samsung Odyssey g5 27inch I have not doing anything at the moment. I heard I can't really use mounts easily with the alienware dw34s I have as apparently they aren't standard vesa mounts plus quite heavy.

Frankly it's a crappy desk except for all the shelf space and small cabinet space where I can store alot of my Nas drives and speakers and switch etc.

you can post to a site like imgur.com
        then post the link here

you can also upload file on this site as well
        and post the link etc..

        click My account > settings
then click VIEW tab > click FILES tab > upload new file

  • I use a HP EliteDisplay at work https://www.hp.com/au-en/shop/monitors/business-monitors/eli…

Stand allows height adjustment all the way until the bottom of the monitor touches the stand which by my measurement is 1.2cm.

Another consideration is whether you can reuse your stand? The back mountings all seem quite similar within brands so maybe another Dell monitor with your old stand is the way to go.

    • yes I was wondering if i can use one dell stand with another. I was told Alienware are different but i wonder if the other dell monitors will work. Then again my monitor is from 2013 and i cant believe they dont make 29" anymore.

  • I think best way is to measure the usable space you have and look at monitor dimensions with the stand.

    Monitor arm is another option

    • Basically the height is the main issue i have and i can fit 40cm with stand. I was thinking arm except my corner desk table is close to the wall and also the main ledge part where the monitor sits, there isnt much of a ledge for the arm to mount on but i can mount it on the shelves above or below and angle it to be coming through the monitor area.

      • okay, 40cm for height, is there also a width limit?

        • Not really, I reckon even a 34" can fit, I think i checked my Alienware 34UW and it could fit width wise without the stand, it was close but can fit it.

I have uploaded a couple of pics.

  • So the Alienware 25 is on the left and i have shown a picture of how it has to hang over the edge at the rear to fit the tall stand but also that pic will show how there isnt much of a ledge on the main part of the desk to have mounts but i can use the shelves underneath or above. Catch is ideally not a huge mount as i got a mount from work and it was Massive and bulky and no way will it fit.

  • Looking up monitors, and since 29" isnt that common and moving up to the 30" + range. I will need Ultra Wide, which i guess is what my 29" is anyway. Otherwise even without the stand the 31"+ wont fit height wise. So it will have to be arm and a 30+ " Ultrawide monitor. Or try to find a 29" Dell second hand.

  • Looks like this monitor will work and the stand does go low enough.
