WD Essential Hard Drive Arrived with US Plugs from Amazon Australia

I bought a WD 12tb from Amazon Australia. It arrived today but it has an American power plug. I don't like travel adapters so is there any way to get Amazon to supply a genuine Australian power cable for the drive?

        • Courious what happened, so an item of plug adapter appear in your my order?

          • @foxmulder: No the orders from amazon can come from the uk or the usa, they come with power adapters for that local market.

You contact support citing your serial numbers of the external disks, and tell them you purchased them from amazon but received the wrong adapter, they will create an order directly from wd support and send you the au adapters directly.

Not really, you can do a refund though.

Out of interest OP, which one did you get? As most of the ones I see are listed as international. Hence the US plug.

    • It was this one https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07X4V2M3B/ref=ppx_yo_d… I assumed if it is sold on an Australian site it would get an Australian power cable bundled with it to comply with Australian wiring codes etc. …obviously not.

The seller is Amazon US - I won't assume it will come with a plug adapter. The same if the seller is Amazon UK.

What's important is the power adapter should be in 100-240v and it has AU/NZ safety tick.

Only if sold via the Australian warehouses, if coming from overseas, sadly no, whatever the 'local' plug is.

Yep that one you linked to has International all over it, so yeah would be a US plug.

Going to be an adaptor job.

  • As others have said, contact WD, they will send you .au adaptors - I did that a few years back, and then reused the same adaptors when I got new drives last year (after checking to make sure the voltage etc hadn't changed. WD didn't even charge me for the new adaptors, and I asked for 4 (one for each drive). Don't bother contacting Amazon

  • Thanks to all for the 'contact WD' tip…did so and they are sending me a Aus cable
