Hi all,

I'm am looking for recommendations of companies within the southwest Liverpool region that can do roof restoration and general house renovations.

In particular i'm looking for recommendations from the OzBargain community and people who've dealt with certain companies.

      Curious as to what is meant to be wrong, given this is a notoriously dodgy industry / scam.

      There are cracked tiles on the roof which will need replacing due to causing water to ingress into the house. I agree with the below comment that this industry is notoriously dodgy, thus I was hoping someone could point me towards a reputable company/builder.

        Are these tiles in the middle of the roof (say 3 tiles away from capping) or near mortared areas?

    Replacing the roof is normally a better option, or getting cracked tile and ridgecap repointed by a licenced roof tiler.
    The restoration business can be a bit shonky.

    This builder was doing work next door to me and he tried to talk me into doing all sorts of work. Said that I needed $40,000 roof work. I looked at my roof and it looked OK to me. I asked some architects and builders I knew and they said there was no problem.nnHe gave me a quote for some of the works. I checked the name of the company on the quote and it was deregistered. So he gave me another quote with a different company but suspiciously the same bank account details. I did a licence check and he had a bad history going back 10 years and wasn't licenced. Obvious why, he had a long history of penalties for not completing jobs and claims for defective work. The lesson, always do a licence check on the builder (the actual personal name).     I've also found hipages.com.au useful to get competitive quotes. I post jobs there and very quickly 3 contractors contact me and I can choose. The contractors have to pay to contact the customer so they absorb the cost in their price.
