Where Are The Ryzen 6800u Laptops?! AMD Seems to Be Vaporware!

Looking to upgrade my 4500u laptop with a 6800u, mainly for the integrated graphics as I have no need for heavy graphics for gaming (I have an Xbox for games) but the odd go on GTA5 on the go is fun.

However, it seems these are nowhere to be found (other than the HP at insance $2600+ prices).

Anyone guess when AMD Ryzen 6800u will be available in laptops you can buy without spending gaming laptop money?

Same question got asked on reddit

The 6000 series is basically a paper launch. I wouldn't expect to see them in cheap laptops anytime soon.

There is a Thinkpad T16 with AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 6650U for $1709. For 16GB of DDR5 RAM, the price increases to $1,780.50.

If you pick the Ryzen 7 6850U + 16GB RAM upgrade then the total goes up to $1,968, at this price you could get a proper lightweight gaming laptop with discrete GPU that will give you better performance for the money, like an Alienware X14 (weighs in at 1.84 KG)

    • I saw the reddit but they're often referring to the US market. Yes $1968 with soldered ram, not really my thing, guess AMD annoucements are as other poster said paper releases for a minimum 12 months, maybe even 18 before they reach mainstream consumer level!

R5 6600HS with discrete GeForce 1650 Ti for less than $1.5K or $1600.72 with an 8 core Ryzen 6800HS

The catch is you need Lenovo Education store access.

        • Yep, got that access, but really hoping for the u chip with no discrete graphics, and the dream, 2 ssd bays, removable ram, and usb c TbB or DP alt out!! I'd even settle for the hs chip if it came without the 1650!!

seems like an expensive upgrade for not much better graphics performance.

    $1725 with the 6800U and OLED. I paid $1815 a week ago (-12% CR so $1597.2), ETA July 25th.

    • not bad!

  • Most I've seen with a 6800u or 6800hs have been around $1800 such as lenovo or asus.

There is the Asus Flow X13 with the 6800hs for around $2000 (was $1800 a month ago), battery life is quite good with the new amd chips, like 8+ hours of video streaming. Also is a 2 in 1 and includes pen + case if bought from the right dealer. I have one and am quite happy with it, good build quality.

I found this last night on the lenovo education store. Not sure if you can see the link

Seems like a hell of a deal.

    • A good find! Not exactly what I'm after (15-28w u chip, this chip seems to be the full fat 45w one) and non soldered ram/dual bays (dreaming I know!) but a much more realistic price point for a non gaming laptop. Hopefully within the next 6 months the raphael announcements will lower the cost of the 6000 series and U chips with the 680m will hit the market at better price points.
