VIC to NSW Notice of Disposal

Hi

Sold my VIC registered car to a dealership in NSW.
I am unable to find the information regarding the notice of disposal. I have visited the Vicroads, and they have advised me to remove the plates and sell the Car as an unregistered vehicle. The dealer in NSW wants the car with registration as they might sell it back to someone in VIC.

Vicroads has suggested that the car will remain in my name until it's transferred to someone by the dealer, and I cant transfer to dealer as they don't have Vic licence No or Customer No.

Does anyone know the way out, please let me know the options.

Why wouldn't you sell it to a dealer or someone in your home state?

    • Price and it was purchased straight away and paid within few hours. My locals dealers were trying to find a bargain

If they can't transfer rego it's not your problem. Most states its 14 day window to transfer the registration, so don't cancel it until that expires

Did you sign a contract for the sale?

    • That’s great,Yes I did signed the contract with dealer.

I have sold cars to interstate dealers. Just leave the rego alone. They factor that into your price. Also leave them to sort out the name of the new owner. There won't be any link between you and the car once it's sold on and you have a receipt that will be time and date stamped if there happens to be any question as to who owned the car and when….
