I was originally considering BlitzWolf ® BW-VP15 on ebay via a no-name based in China dropshipper (but shipping from 'NSW') at $246.74 after discounts but came across this Yaber model when someone else mentioned it in an old blitzwolf projector deal.

New low according to camels^3 - previous ATL at $299 - and usually advertised at $339 after coupon (laughable price).

Worst scenario at least amazon's return policy would be easier.

Wait till later today to stack with CR upsized all category CB for max benefit.

I have no experience with this item but for anyone out there wondering if a $300-$400 projector could actually be any good I can say I’m very impressed with the $350 one i bought from AliExpress a while back. With a chromecast tv, external speaker and a $120 pull down screen I bought from eBay it’s a surprisingly good 120 inch set up. It has to be at night or in completely dark room though

    • How do you connect external speaker? Could a soundbar be connected?

      • +1

'Yaber 5G WiFi projector supports WiFi connection for iOS/Android, can mirror videos/photos/games from your smartphone/tablet or other Miracast-enabled devices freely. The latest Bluetooth 5.0 can connect to your Bluetooth speaker/earphone/AirPods wirelessly. Note: Cannot connect to WiFi/Bluetooth or not stable is not a quality problem and can be solved by Firmware Upgrade. Any problems, our after-sales support will reply you within 24 hours asap.'

Ive never done with chromecast but I know firesticks can connect to a bt speaker as well.

How much latency is involved im not sure…

This model also looks to have a 3.5mm jack

        • It looks to have HDMI so could connect my soundbar to the hdmi.
          Or try bluetooth

    • It has to be at night or in completely dark room though

my smart bike app has virtual tours it plays as you ride (through country side etc) , so thinking of turning off the lights and just streaming to the projector via a chromecast for immersion :D

Would a white wall be ok or do you need a pull down screen?

      • I project the BlitzWolf BW-VP6 onto a white wall and it's perfect.

      • I've had this on a white wall, a white sheet, a projector screen and yes as long as it's not full on daytime the projector is actually not bad when it comes to brightness. But mind you, you can't compare this to a top end or short throw projector, but for the price and quality of picture it's pretty impressive. I had another Amazon projector I bought back in 2020 which was a Dr J one and it was utter rubbish.

  • I've had this model for a couple months and for the price I'm very impressed. It does keystone correction so I have it on my bedside shining at the wall in front of my bed. Get a Chromecast or connect your computer up to it as the built in apps aren't great.

    • have you tried streaming direct from phone? That's the other feature im looking for but wondering how well it actually works

      • I haven’t. But I assume it’s probably not great at that either

    • bedside shining at the wall in front of my bed

      Looking for the same.

How's the noise from the unit? I imagine on your bedside you can at least hear fans whirring?

      • +1

if its anything like the blitzwolf one at similar money , it definitely has to be noticeable .. the idea would be the speakers would drown out the whirring…

not enough cooling = cooked unit … and its very limited in size so can only increase speed to move air haha

      • It's definitely noticeable. I don't use the speaker on it either. The speaker is fine for what it is. I use a google home max and to be totally honest i completely forget about the noise after a couple minutes. If you are sensitive to it, it might annoy you. If you use it on an angle like i do you do get a bit of blurryness on the edge of the screen from the correction. To me, at the $299 i paid for it, it does so many things well i'm happy with the compromises.

        • Cheers for the honest review.

For what it is and how often it's used, it should suit my purposes too!

        • Haha ordered 1 - just had to wait for cr cb

      • I have this one projecting from my kitchen bench behind my couch and yes it's not quiet but I don't notice it. I've used other projectors in the past that were way noisier.

  • I bought this last month when it was on sale for $299 and am more then happy with it. The quality of it rivals ones worth alot more. I use a firestick 4k with it as well as the pc. Has very impressive sharpness and the brightness is pretty good. Definitely worth it for this price.

  • The first video in the Amazon ad gives a very good rundown of the projector. It looks great for the price.

i know right - a lot of people poo poo sub $1000 or even sub $2000 projectors …but for the asking price it looks like it punches above its class.

  • Is the throw ratio fixed?

  • Cheaper than 2x 2500 hour lamps for our current projector which is due for a lamp replacement - i'll give it a go 🤔

Not too familiar with this model but i did a tonne of research when trying to find a projector for $200-250

Heres a great summary sheet of budget projectors:

The creator also has a thorough yt channel with projector reviews:

I ended up going for the wewatch v50 and its been fantastic.

    • I’ve always had my reservations about getting anything from Ali or Banggood - but yes the we watch and the Blitzwolf I mentioned in my op did rank on the spreadsheet. I only went with amazon as I’ve had a good run with dispute resolutions with them

    • This is awesome!

    • where did you get the wewatch from?

      • +1

Got it from aliexpress for ~$199 delivered - took about 2 weeks.

It has built in screen mirroring for ios and android without the need for 3rd party apps.

Thanks ordered from amazon US for about $175AU

          • @droodle: Let me know your thoughts when it arrives. Remember to calibrate the display settings

            • @Pelilah: Calibrate display settings ?it arrived today .. had a quick play .. fan a little loud but when connected via hdmi using passthrough via a soundbar was unnoticeable - will have more time at the weekend and will try a bigger picture

  • 4 metre distance needed for a good sized image. Any recommendations on good yet reasonable short throw projector?

  • Got mine today - my expectations were very low but I am very, very impressed for 279. Key stoning works awesome, a little distortion but pretty acceptable imo.

    • +1

Great to hear! I use mine daily when laying in bed at the end of the day and honestly i couldn't be happier for the price.

      • How do you connect to sound?

        • At the moment I’m using it with my PC and Chromcast with google tv. And they are both connected to a google home max for now. Via 3.5mm on the pc and Bluetooth with the chrome cast. Works really well but I’ve just purchased a set of Edifier speakers that I’m going to use. The speaker in the projector is usable but I’d definitely get something else if possible. I believe the projector has a 3.5mm output too so you could use that.
