I bought both BU & RY today. It was a good day.

    • How do you rate the 2?

BU is definitely superior, much sweeter. RY is a little in the plain side.
My favourite is James Squire ginger beers as it has a stronger ginger kick but is still pretty sweet.
For a less sweet drink but still a nice ginger flavour, I also like Matso’s. Very refreshing drink.

I find Saxby's ginger beer is the best you can buy, not too sweet, strong but not overpowering ginger kick. Add vodka or rum to make it an adult beverage with ice, and much cheaper than watered-down premixes like these.

      This isn't a premix.

      • Premix / alcopop, whatever, it's premade in a factory, not to mention a measly 4% ABV.

Hell yeah brother - hit that MF buy button!

    10/10 🔥🔥🔥🔥

    Got a case! Thanks OP

Excellent drink - albeit very sugary. Best ginger beer out there imo

  • Back to $93

  • IMHO I would disagree and say that Rusty Yak is superior. I find Brookvale too sweet.
RY is way more refreshing and delicious.

Also if you want to take it to a new level, add some Lime. It will blow your mind.

FWIW brewing your own ginger beer at home is amazingly simple - honestly even simpler than normal beer (where a basic home brewer has the end result affected by oxygenation during bottling) - I've actually got around 25L of it fermenting in my garage brew fridge as I write this. Made from this season's harvest of ginger (super easy to grow from a few pieces of shop bought) and some lemons and limes from my garden.

I also used malt extract for the vast majority of the sugars to give a better end result than simple table sugars - didn't put in any spices or chilli - good chat about it here if folks are thinking about dabbling.

Even if you bought a home brew kit to do it'd pay for itself vs buying commercial after 1 brew easily.
