Vodafone multiple SMS

Hi friends,

I just joined Vodafone on their annual SIM card, with my iPhone XS.

So far I’ve had a couple issues:

  • iMessage doesn’t work (I have already reset the network settings)
  • when I send sms, the recipient seems to get 4 of the same message.

Anyone else experience the same thing?

  • Go to Settings > Messages, switch off and back on iMessage. It may ask you to re-login to Apple account.

    Also check which iMessage addresses are enabled in the setting under it, the SIM change will have reset number.

    • Thank you. Been trying to activate it.. found a site on google saying it could take a day to activate!

      • Doesn't take a day to activate. You may need to switch iMessage off, reboot iPhone and switch iMessage back on. Try it without WiFi too.

        You might want to check if there are "carrier" settings to update as well. Could be Vodafone have different ones to previous one.

    One such problem is sending multiple text messages that you are completely unaware of until someone tells you. But the good news is it’s an easy fix. In most cases under settings/phone, it has your number listed. If this is still the number that came with the phone and not yours, this will be the problem. What it is doing is sending from both the numbers, so it could be sending 2,3,4 or more copies of the same text.

    • Yes this works! Thank you so much. It had some random number in there (landline)

      It’s struggling to turn on iMessage but that’s not as important!
