What Happens if I Don't Accept When Virgin Changes The Flight Booking?

So we've booked a family holiday to Tasmania in early Jan 2023 flying with Virgin. Now Virgin has changed both flights with the inbound flight leaving later and the return flight leaving earlier, so we basically lose an entire day.

In their email it asks if you accept the change, but what happens if I don't accept the change?

We had the same thing - except we went from flying direct from Launceston to Brisbane to now flying Launceston to Melbourne with a 9 hour stop over…………….looks like I'm spending a day in Melbourne

You will get a heartfelt apology email from the CEO, then within 2 business days they will reschedule all flights to satisfy your specific requirements and notify the 10,000 other passengers travelling those days that all their flights have been changed to suit your direct needs.

Last time this happened to me, they just game me my own charter jet to use for the day…

Look like you had lots of summer fun ;)

You can either accept the change as offered or call them up and move it to a different day/time and pay the fare difference.

I was in this situation last year, I gave them a call and rebooked my flight without having to pay the fare difference. Managed to move my promo flight on a random Thurs to a Sat morning flight on a long weekend, I thought that was a win

  • This happened to me recently too. Booked about 5 months before travel and had 6 flight changes in total.

If you call they have alot more flexibility to alter the booking without having to pay any booking fees. Got our pick of days and flights which was nice, but pain that the flights changed in the first place.
