If you were looking at one of these but didnt buy it before it went up after EOFY now is your chance.

Looks like JB Hi-Fi responded by knocking down to $199.

Anyone bought the A8 from before?
    How is it?

I got the A8 from the Optus deal.

Quite happy with it mainly using it to watch videos, browse the net, and some kids games.

      Screen is acceptable.

It's not supposed to do resource demanding stuff.

      • -1

Once u used alldocube you won't say the screen is acceptable

    • But if you compare this to other 8" tablet, this is good.other 8" ram is 2 to 3 GB and the battery is 4000mAh.

  • +2

Got one for 179 yesterday from TGG with code SAVEBIG.
Slow and poor screen. Got it as secondary device for my s22 .

    • i've heard good for xcloud gaming tho?

  • +3

I like using these as Home Assistant hubs around the house for home control and IP camera viewing via WebRTC (4mp cameras) with Frigate detection.

For a basic tablet, it performs well enough. I wouldn't use it for much outside of what I'm doing or YouTube etc

    • How do u find the screen res on this for HA, a few people say that they regret going with a 8in tablet and should of got a 10in tablet with higher display res.

      • +1

Screen resolution is fine for me. I'm not expecting much from these cheap tablets.

I currently have two cameras, weather info from the Ecowitt weather station on the roof, UPS load/battery state for my server equipment, door sensors, lighting control for the Philips Hue and a few motion detection alerts from Frigate.

I would've went 10inch, but I was really restricted in height size for the tablet position I wanted.

  • i have both A7 lite and A8 tablet. A7 only 3gb ram so extremely slow. with A8 4gb ram, it just a little bit better. both A7 and A8 couldnt stream 4K from CCTV, maximum low or medium resolution. So if you are after fast and 4k i would say at least 6gb ram or galaxy series.

  • Good to note that it runs samsung one core which means most of the galaxy s features wil be missing like goodlock, bixby routines, themes, saved passwords other useful stuff

      should be bad to note…..

don't know why this is even worth posting when people got the A8 LTE for less than $150 with 1 year of free data.

    • +3

      Is this deal available now?

  • +2

    Don't. It's slow.

    • +1

      ie. not enough juice

  • +3

Seems like the low end tablet market is pretty stagnant.

    I paid $230 for a "Lenovo tab 4 10plus"….4 years ago.

That old tablet has FHD and snapdragon 625…. Far better than this A7 lite, from what I can see..

It feels like inflation is eating into these products, big time.

      You spelled "greed" wrong

  • This is $2 cheaper than Samsung au edu pricing :)

If anyone wants an even crappier tablet, there's also this https://www.amazon.com.au/Lenovo-ZA5G0036AU-TB-8505F-Iron-Gr…

  • +1

I have the Samsung S6 lite, a $500+ RRP tablet and it's slow as shit. I've only got a few apps on it and just use it for things like YouTube and web browsing. I can't imagine how unusable these sub $200 tablets are.

  • +2

You'd be a nutter to buy this for the same price as the 10.5 inch A8 on the main page.

  • Not everyone can handle extra 1.8" from my experience ☺️

    • Do you have small hands?

      • I think you missed the joke….

        • No…. you did. 😊

  • Should have mentioned i was looking into buying this to mount in the car for simple google maps/spotify/headunit reloaded. It works quite well as an in car gps/music device, and right size.

It doesnt do headunit reloaded well unless you OTG your phone, i think the LTE version can do wireless connection, but until the devs fix wifi direct youd have to plug it in via otg usb c.
